Just emailed off my entry for this years Leyburn Sprints
http://www.leyburnmotorsprints.com.au/
There should be 5 or 6 VW's running this year so should be a great weekend.
I am taking Herb out of the shed for a run, I have missed the last couple of years due to the bubs but they are growing up quick and think Herb looks lonely in the shed. Am glad he wont be lonely out there..

Got an email today saying our entry had been accepted so really excited about that now!
Time to do some quick prep before we go!
Will also see about a new camera and a good mount for it.....
I'm in with Fvee, Grahame Rumballe MK1 Golf, Greg Turnham Type4 Superbug, Dave Sidery Beetle, Noel Dore Beetle, Ian & Christine Dalgliesh Type 3 Fasty.
big field of VW's this year. We'll have to put some effort into securing pit space together...
You need to be there Friday morning to pit together. Even so, you still end up in the back paddock, but close to the showers.
For first timers, mind the hay bale chicane. They look innocent enough, but they are anchored by several star pickets and one is tied to a telephone pole! Smooth and steady through there.
Received my confirmation entry last night, really looking forward to this iconic event.
Cheers Col
Can't wait!
down loaded the entry list and it shows 3 formula Vees, 1 VW special, 1 fastback, 6 beetles, 1 Mk1 Golf, 1 x 914 porsche and 1 Audi Quattro S1.
great showing by the VW's!
Should be an interesting week, I'm in the pre72 touring cars 3501-5100cc up against 4 Ford trans Am mustangs!! won't they be shitty
Louiieee
I bet they change there minds a few times
will be a good weekend
All loaded and ready for Leyburn.
Cheers Col
Just watch that turn 2 :-)
Turn 2 spin here
COLD tyres
The track goes the other way now, so this is the second last corner after the hay bails and before the witches hat chicane.
Will hopefully make it up with a bunch of VWDCQ members + extras on Sunday
-enjoy the freezing cold nights!
Sidery is heading up Thursday I believe so should be easy to pit as a group
been fishing up at Frazer since Saturday and home tonight. Car was packed into the trailer last week so we are heading off early tomorrow so between Dave and I and I think Noel we should be able to get a good spot for the VW's.
Great time, great cars, great racing, great mates, what a blast!
Must add a heater to the list of pit items next time.
Great weekend was had a Leyburn by all, except maybe Greg who put a rod thru the Type 4 motor. He still managed a mid 55 sec run on his first run
which is very impressive.
Here is a link to my 5th run which was my second fastest for the weekend. unfortunately the camera died on the final run which was 1/2 second faster
and good enough for 2nd in class. Not bad against 3 other cars all race prepared V8 mustangs.

We had a ball and will be back next year with new brakes and new rubber!
here are the final time sheets. Not sure if the final results are on their web site yet. And a picture of my new rock....
