anyone vee-dubbing the Cootha Classic hillclimb 5th sept???
i`m entered with my fwd Yamaha R1 powered buggy,
should be fun :-) new slicks, new shocks, all amp`d up :-)
so who`s going?
who`s running?
Who`s doing pittsworth sprints instead?
I was thinking of it but then I thought that out of the 100 handpicked cars mine was not going to be as good as most as my running gear is still
stockish?
I don;t want to flog the bum off it to try and keep up with times of genuine race cars.
Are there people who go for a bit of fun or is it all competative?
hey miniman, I missed the cut off date for Cootha so might go and watch. I didn't even realise they were holding it this year until too late.
My next run is Warwick drags and then looking at noosa hill climb in November then car is going up on blocks for the brake and suspension upgrade.....
I answered my own questions. Need Cams Licence. They did not have that info when I first saw this years. So I could not enter anyway.
Might try to get along too.
Anyone know if parking for public is safe if i take the kombi? Or is a park miles from there and get a bus up this hill sort of deal?
(Or maybe walk up the walking tracks from Chapel Hill)
Yep , park somewhere else & shuttle busses supplied
scrutineering & pit set-up is friday
racing all day sat
chill out & relax putting everything away again sunday :-)
watch out for the cheapest piece of sh!t buggy-thing there with the little yellow smiley face on the front :-)
just going for a little drive around , way way way too many fast cars there this time for me to have any chance of a top 10 finish
altho i did buy new slippery diff,,, new zippier sprocket set,,, new chain,,, new shocks all round (thanks Murray coote) ,,, & new Hoosier-daddy
slicks,,,
so now all that has doubled the value/cost of my car,,, litterally :-)
it`ll probably rain now & all that stuff won`t mean diddly squat :-)
& i`m going to give Noosa Hillclimb a go in Nov if they let me in again :-)
hey all,
first run (sighting run,,, un-timed) my diff broke/shredded, so basically approx 80percent drive to the right front wheel,,, & about 20 to the
left
snapped violently left once i floored the throttle in 3rd
felt like i broke a left front axle
i think a little poo came out :-)
run 1 here-->
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98lBiNpv90M
so after a few attempts at trying to hold it together & keep it off the armco,,, i light-throttled the rest of the track , just to get back to the
pits to chuck it into the truck & go home,,, way to dangerous to race with it like that
But,,, when i got back to the pits i found my truck parked in by a few cars & the rest of the pits were so jammed up i couldn`t pack up anyways,,,
soooo,,, i had another run :-)
i paid my $270 entry fee so fark it i thought, i`ll just take it easy & see if i can feel what`s actually happening with the thing.
somehow i managed to keep it on the track, with all my might holding the wheel straight,,,
managed to keep 3rd place all day until i didn`t bother having the 5th run (my arms were nearly falling off & i was pretty fatigued so i just
didn`t bother) ended up getting bumped back to 4th place
then they called my up for the top 5 shootout,,, "why not i said" :-)
here`s the last run i had-->
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THslCQOzoMg
it was fun,,, just not that much fun driving half throttle & very nervous, braking way early & steering mildly, arms aching,
time for the quaiffe diff to go back in,,, stronger rear springs & add a sway bar to the front to help with a (sort-of) compromise set-up until i
can work out what to do with this plate-type diff
cheers guys n gals
Matt
Awesome work!!
