New Record Oran Park GP
retro - April 2nd, 2004 at 10:18 AM
Undesputed king of the mountain Rudie Franks just set a new record at Oran Park GP Course 4B Super Sports Sedan 1601cc to 2000cc 83.57 or 1min
23.57secs. But he just found out that he held the record from last year as well.
Just goes to show what the right combonation is, it's not 76x92 or 82x94 it is 1916xbig balls.
Good onya Rudie keep em swingin

Is that the 1302, maroon one? With the full tube chassis underneath or something?

Well done Rudy!! That car is wild and an absolute credit to Rudy & John who have done a great job developing the car. It's great to see vw's out
there breaking records, regardless of engine combo.
Retro, that car has the right "combo" alright , suspension, brakes ,spoilers, wings, gearbox, driver and engine "combined" make the combo.I'm sure
Rudy and John would agree it takes more than an engine to break records.
It's great to see people like yourself so passionate about your engine of choice(and yes it is a proven combo), this is what makes the vw scene so
different to other marques.......but we must be realistic about what breaks records.
Cheers Paul

Cam,that car is now down in Melbourne and is owned by John Spink. It did have a 1916cc Pobjoy when it ran up here but the engine is now a worked WRX.
A very Quick sports sedan, if you get a chance John usually races at the Morwell hillclimb, go and have a look.
Rudy's car is a silver Superbug sports sedan with a 111hp 1916cc engine.
Congrats to Rudy and John, from what I hear they will have more power from the 1916 very soon, so the times should be even faster.

HI Paul
You should come to the state rounds and have a run, we are trying to get together some numbers at the moment there is rudie's car with John and Rudie
and now there is a few formular Vee's I am puting a car together and John is almost finished his so if we can get you, Jak, CT and Craig we will be a
force and maybe encourage some other vee dub nuts to get together. The basic idea is to have fun and genuine help for each other.
