HUNTLEY HILLCLIMB
amazer - April 7th, 2004 at 04:36 PM

Hey, how long has this forum been here? I need to get out more.

Huntley is on again, 18th April.

OvalGlen - April 8th, 2004 at 11:05 PM

so how did I get the idea it was closed forever.?

amazer - April 8th, 2004 at 11:46 PM

Cos it was closed forever by the insurance fiasco. The required safety standards went through the roof so we closed for 18 months or so. Several thousand man hours, Several thousand dollars worth of armco, few thousand tyres and a couple of thousand dollars worth of chain to tie them together means we are back up and running, but only if we can get people to run. Last 3 events have run at a loss. Bank balances are heading towards critical.

Craig Torrens - April 9th, 2004 at 12:36 AM

what's the cost this year for entry? its a pity about the low numbers, it seems hillclimb has "dropped off" in the last couple of years, some events have had only 40 or so entries.

amazer - April 9th, 2004 at 08:42 PM

huntley will be a shitload cheaper than the other rounds of the championship as it always has been. We like car racing and just want to break even. Not out to make profits. Besides if you make profit you pay tax. Almost certain it will be less than $100. Between $70 and $90 I guess. Just need to do a costing and guess how many entrants we will get. The permit fee alone is about $2500 from memory. Ambulance for a day dont come cheap.

Why dont you come down to the clubbie and get some practice in. Clubbies are $65 I think.

Chris, any chance of posting the club dates ? Can I run without being a member?

Maybe we could organise a VW class and invite all from the forum??

Theres no such thing as an invited clubs list now, so if you are a member of any CAMS affiliated club you can run.

dates are
18 April
16 May championship
11 July
26 September
7 November

gnight, gotta go play husband for a night if I am to play dubs all weekend

Keith Haeusler - April 9th, 2004 at 08:56 PM

Craig,
I`m pretty sure he is running the series. We made a few changes this year to the engine. Still sorting out the carbs, learning as we go. I know he came 2nd at Wakefield and 1st at Bathurst.
Keith.

worst turnout yet. Only 12 entries. 13 runs before we all got bored and went home. Would have been 13 entries only someone blew up my first gear at WSID. Oh yeah that was me.

Hopefully the championship round next month will draw some money. Sorry Craig, entry looks like being $100. Still comparatively cheap though.

Next clubbie 11th July will be almost entirely my baby. I have taken charge of doing all preliminary paperwork. Hopefully I will get it all done quicker (starting now) and send out entries and invites in plenty of time. Will all depend on how quickly CAMS want to process things.

Cam - April 19th, 2004 at 12:32 AM

Shame about the turnout. Hope you get a better one next time. No motor sport for me this year by the looks of it... again :(
