Hmmmm!!!
I wonder if Dave Butler would lend you his twin supercharged
Pauter block 2900cc engine!!!!!!????????;)

Anyway that's a great looking rail!!!! Just what the Volksie drag racing seen needs!! Good luck with the project , and I'll be keen to follow your progress!!

Cheers Craig P.

Is it going to be natrually aspirated or turbo? G

o on! Go the turbo, 40lb boost and an air/ice intercooler!!! Show some Australian V8's what a 800HP vw can do!

8 seconds..... :)

Cheers,

Very cool Retro racer!!

Dan:)

shiftyvw - July 8th, 2004 at 08:43 PM

It will be turbocharged, 2.2l oxyboxer with autocraft heads, microtech methanol injection, bit of nitrous if required. Id like to have it running consistent mid eights eventually. It should only weigh 1300lbs or less with me in it. Should hit the track late in the year hopefully.

That's gotta do 8's easy with such a wicked motor in the works. Are you building it?

Stanley - July 12th, 2004 at 12:54 PM

You've got my attention

Very nice score

KruizinKombi - July 12th, 2004 at 02:19 PM

I'm looking forward to seeing this one go!!!

shiftyvw - July 13th, 2004 at 07:24 PM

Using Trimatic that comes with the car, can be changed to a powerglide easily if required. Wouldnt trust anyone to build the motor except me. I do like the paradise car but will try to make it look a bit different. Its quite a bit different in the chassis anyway.

pete wood - July 13th, 2004 at 07:58 PM

it's real nice to see people doing interesting things with VWs again. The whole scene went anal and boring a few years back. People like you are opening peoples minds up again.

Keep up the good work. ;)

Spose you'll be racing a eastern creek mostly, right?

shiftyvw - July 13th, 2004 at 08:51 PM

Yes mainly at WSID

shiftyvw - July 13th, 2004 at 08:56 PM

Might also add to petes comment about People doing new stuff that There are a heap of cars I hear about in the build just down in wollongong, really looks like the scene is hotting up. Not sure about my own mind opening effects but it is nice to stir up a bit of enthusiasm.

FANTASIC shifty, this is they way to do it ,mate. What wheel base has the old digger got !Has it got a up to date tech !If you can i would run carbs befor you go turbo so you get the feel of it .To run in modified class all you have to is run tens .Look forward to here more when start working on it. BEST thing about a rail is much ezy to work on! Trimatic auto will be real sweat in a lite car .

go the power glide i have a shed full if you need one .
I all so have a trick one thats been played with * short *and made to manual shift $$$ with a p76 bell housing that can be removed .only done a two days before removed and fitted a big ford box that cost 10x the amount only to kill it 4 times .
power glide is very strong box very good ! seagull

Cam - July 15th, 2004 at 01:46 AM

THAT IS WICKED!!!! :bounce:bounce:bounce

Sweet ride dude, have you tried it with the 8 in it?

shiftyvw - July 15th, 2004 at 09:02 PM

its only 165inch wheelbase and was only built in '99 so is all up to date as far as the tech side goes. I would like to give it a run NA but the turbo motor is the only one Ive got so ill probably just start with real low boost and work my way up.
First prority is to get the thing home first though!
Trimatic is supposedly good for 700hp so I cant really see any reson to look at powerglides for now.

Secoh - July 16th, 2004 at 09:36 AM

i have some wasserboxer engine parts such as rods and 1.9L crank and stuff if it's any use to you :) (I'm using the 2.1L crank myself :P) I have a spare engine case but it's cracked :(

shiftyvw - July 16th, 2004 at 08:06 PM

Thanks but all that sort of stuffs taken care of already. Iv'e got everything I need except money! Its a bit of a bottomless pit all this racing stuff!

seagull - July 16th, 2004 at 09:51 PM
