What do I need for Buladelah?
Special Air Service - March 8th, 2005 at 08:31 PM

Toying with the idea of "racing"? at buladelah hill climb and was wondering what I need to have to be able to compete? Its just down the road and thought it might be a good first attempt at "beetle racing". I drive a 1300 72' standard beetle (swing axle) so I wont be out to set any records. Also a race date would be helpfull and exactly where the start and finish of the circuit is (for practice purposes) costs etc.?
cheers guys
Brendan

You will most likely need to compete as part of a club which is affiliated with CAMS (confederation of Australian Motor Sport).

You will also need a fire extinguisher, secondary bonnet catch (just a belt around the handle and your bumper will be fine) and that should be about it.

Give CAMS a call and they'll hook you up with a club and all you'll need to get started. It will cost abit to begin with, club fees, CAMS license (which isnt tested at this level, just a membership style thing), fire ext, helmet, etc... But its well worth it since this sort of motor sport is heaps of fun and very rewarding imho.
