Has there been any solution to the problem with the Australian being on the same day as King Edward? You would think a club involved with the series I would have had some info, but I dont. Wondering if competitors are any better off.

I imagine MG car club wil be friggin spewin.

jakjones - May 18th, 2005 at 05:44 PM

Where and when are the Australians this year ??

VWCOOL - May 18th, 2005 at 10:17 PM

OOOps to the organisers...!

Craig Torrens - May 18th, 2005 at 10:20 PM

No news from my end. Will sus out.

GregWard - May 19th, 2005 at 04:26 PM

Australian should be Collingrove SA, my FAV track...

But as Chris said, KEP is on the same day, F ridiculous.

jakjones - May 19th, 2005 at 07:08 PM

So who's going to SA then ?

GregWard - May 19th, 2005 at 10:56 PM

I'll be there so long as it doesn't cost me a state Championship....

One race is fantastic, and that is one awesome event, but 12 races for a title is more important.....

Surely, it wouldn't matter that it wa on a week or 2 later??

jakjones - May 20th, 2005 at 07:04 AM

Can u get the MG club to postpone the KEP event??

amazer - May 20th, 2005 at 09:28 AM

I think newcastle had their event in first, and then collingrove changed theirs, which they shouldnt have been allowed to do. I have no evidence of that, just reading between the lines of stuff that I have seen.

Whos going to grafton? Long drive home of a sunday night.
Who's going to Raymond Terrace to brave the nasty noise meter?

amazer - May 20th, 2005 at 10:57 AM

This is what apppears in the Hilltorque magazine, the magazine of the NSW hillclimb panel. You can get the whole magazine download here -> hilltorque.pdf

The panel Is attempting to resolve the position of The 2005 Australian Championship, originally scheduled in Victoria, then being advertised in the motoring press as in South Australia and on the same date as our final round ( Rd. 9 ) at King Edward Park, as soon as we have some form of resolution we will let all know.

Grafton - Ill be there. Never been there b4.
going to Ringwood too. Might bring my spare muffler though.

amazer - May 20th, 2005 at 01:36 PM

taking your own muffler isnt enough. 2 years ago they were knocking people out left right centre. Its in a natural valley so the noise echoes one side to the other. You can be on one side racing away quietly, when someone on the other side does their warm up burnout above the noise limit and YOU get sent home without recording a time. I know of a few people who boycotted the event last year because they got ripped off the year before. Perhaps its been fixed.

jakjones - May 20th, 2005 at 05:58 PM

those cars were just too noisy..

hundreds of competiters can manage to comply , a few can't seem to get the message.

I don't think Craig has any problems with noise

amazer - May 20th, 2005 at 06:25 PM

No, I dont think that is the case. I know of at least one car that was black flagged when another car was doing its burnout. You could see the guy looking at the meter, and he black flagged when the car on track was backed off making little noise but the burnout was taking place. There's not much doubt about that. I dont want to bag the club involved, I just think that on the day, whoever was manning the meter needed a little bit of training in its use.

With the exception of Graeme Syphers escort (which may blow the meter to bits) I dont think any of the cars that competed at Huntley will have a problem... if the meter is reading their car and not another. The disclaimer being that all cars are probably louder there due to the nature of the track. Otherwise they would all be knocked out at canberra too.

Yup, arriving Fri night, camping there and heading back on Monday...ish.....

The car in question was at that time too loud , pretty simple but he hasn't been up to Ringwood since , his choice but I think he did run KEP last year and stayed under the noise limit when a few others did not and they were told to take em home.

Craig Torrens - May 20th, 2005 at 09:33 PM

Bring on Grafton......................bloody long drive up there though.

amazer - June 1st, 2005 at 09:19 PM

I got some more info. Reliablity of it unsure. It was going to be at Arthurs Seat in Vic but the track isnt up to scratch. So the club decided they would move it to Collingrove, had to change the day, nobody checked. Could also be the possibility that whoever normally runs collingrove isnt happy.

amazer - June 23rd, 2005 at 07:34 PM

Just got word that the Australian will be on the first weekend of October at Collingrove. Think its the 1-2 October.
