Hi Everybody, thought i would just put up some info concerning the QLD Interclub Challenge. Its a event that consist of 7 rounds of different events.
This year a combined team of the VWDCQ, and Club Audi Qld entered a team. So far after 3 rounds, the team is currently 3rd outright of the 8 teams!!!
So far a motorkhana, khanacross and Nav run have been completed, with a Road Rally (Qld Challenge), Hill climb, Sprint, and autocross still to be
completed this year.
Website is http://www.icq.org.au (has reports and info on what it is and pics form past
events)
Also if anybody who races in SE Qld Would like to run in any of the events (peter?) the more entrants the better!!!
Cheers
Drew

Hi
Iam not super active in the Circuit scene (only done qld raceway twice, morgan park once, and hill climb once), I spend most of my time on dirt tracks
(short cource rally, khanacross, autocross, dirt sprints etc). But I will try and answer some of you questions. If I can from what knowledge I do
have.
-Peter may be able to shed some more light on things, but form what I hear there are a few VW’s that run in the Historic side of things.
-QLD raceway does run its own sat arvo sprints on a regular basis and they use their own insurance and licenses (not very expensive)
- best bet would be to get involved in one of the major clubs that run track days, but it depends on what you want to do, proper racing or lap
sprints, or just being able to get onto the track. I think the porche club and BMW club both do a lot of track work.
- Not sure about licenses, but I assume you should be right (might be best to give CAMS a call)
- If you want to run in the interclub challenge (the track events are our weaker events so all help is great) you need to be a member of either VWDCQ
or CAQ, but VWDCQ is only $30 yr
- I know there used to be a awesome Type 4 powered green super at the hill climb, and also a hot blue golf.
I will try and track down some more info for you.
Cheers Drew
I have been with the Historic Racing Club for the past 2 years and mine has been the only beetle in recent times. Tom LAW came up from Sydney with his
58 Group Na beetle (as pictured) which he raced in Group N at Morgan Park and he also had a 68 Beetle that he ran in regulairity events.
His beetle had #54 as mine was also running at the event, and guess being that I am the local I got to have the 53 for the Herbie thing.
All you need to run in the sprints etc is a level 2S Cams licence.
It would be great to have some more beetles, it gets lonely down the back... (competing against Mustangs etc)
Let me know an email address and I will forward you a Newsletter which will give you an idea of what the Historic Scene is about or have a look at http://www.hrcc.org.au
Cheers
Peter
