string alignment
speedster356 - June 13th, 2006 at 08:27 PM

i've decided to have a go at my own wheel alignment. i've just built a set of these in aluminium. Has anyone used them in the past and any tips. I'm also looking for a small digital protractor to build a camber guage, anyone know of a cheap unit out there. Must be the scottish coming out in me......:P

Good idea - that'll work

beats doing it with lengths of timber on the driveway!

String systems works well! That how we do alignments out on the track. We dont connect the string bars to the car though, we put them on stands away as you need to be able to move them around to get the strings in the right spot (measured of the axle nut).

Dont know about the digital protracter, just use a t-square!

I can see the advantage of having the strings mounted on a bar fixed to the car is that you should be able to move the car and not have to reset the distances from the axles again.

True, hopefully it should work. Sounds like it would - in theory:P
