Just posted off an entry, now just need to cross the fingers and hope my car has enough interest for the orginisers to select it.

I am running, last year I ran Herbie, though look like running the f/vee this year (especially if you were going to be in my class :P). Have ran there the past 3 years and is bloooooody cold at nights- but a great atmosphere/ event.
Vintage Vee Dub Supplies from Sydney (Boris and George) have entered their tarmac rally beetle as well. What's the accommodation situation like?

Mate,
Leyburn has small cottages- you could give the Leyburn Pub a call for a number but am pretty sure they are all booked out years in advance.
Most people who are competing generally camp - which I do as I like the atmosphere etc but you can either stay in Warwick or Toowoomba (I think
Warwick may be closest, but not by too much) There are other smaller places like Allora with small hotels..
If you are running the same Category that I ran last year in the Beetle I was up against a sports sedan Austin Farina with a Twin Cam Lotus Engine-
hardly fair but the other bloke in the class was in a Humber Vogue- so I couldnt complain too much.
Will be good to catch up..

I'll either be in sports cars, that's if accepted. Camping looks the go so I'm getting in the mood by spending 2 weeks in Christchurch NZ....looks like it's going to snow tomorrow:o
Yeah my entry has been accepted!!!
One VW entered of George Geshos and also being driven by Boris of Vintage vee Dub Supplies.
Yep, I will be there as well- though my beetle is only 1600 so am in a different class..
Am looking forward to it..
Just back from the sprints this evening, just a cool 12 hr drive each way for about 7 klms of racing! Put this one on the to do list as well. Leyburn
thrives on this event each year and the whole town pitches in to make this a top event. There were about 185 entries over all catagories, cars ranging
from the Goggomobile to the latest in carbon fibre sports cars like as the Australian Skelta (fastest time of the day) Boris and George were there in
the Targa 2100 VW and turned lots of heads with the speed of the car. (not to mention being the first car on Sunday to test the tyre wall at turn
one). BisDubber ran in the Herbie replica with the music so loud that I think he needed to put fasteners in the windows to keep them from being
blasted out! I've got a CD coming with about 100 images from a mate and a video clip of a Spyder spinning off the track at turn 2....will post some
images when I have time.
I had a best time of 44.82s which was only good for 5th in my class but I'm hoping for a reasonable outright placing. Best of the day was a 43???. A
supercharged Rover V8 powered Suzuki Mightyboy was 3rd outright (midmounted and auto with over 300HP) and was totally insane.
If your in the area take a look next year, even better still have a run, you won't be dissapointed in the weekends fun.

On ya Peter. Did the car behave?
I look forward to seeing some images.
Was the Mighty Boy remote controlled? I don't think there would be any room left for a driver?
CYA CT
Car went fine, the Mightyboy had the gearbox sticking out the back by about 400mm! Quite fast around the corners, but f*$!ing quick in the straights!
I hope there's a photo of it coming.
Oh funniest comment made by the announcer "and now we have Peter Mcleod, winner of the 1987 Bathurst 1000 on the line in the MaRae
Spyder".......Boris and George very nearly died laughing.
The crowd were very dissapointed with the ex Bathurst winners performance on the day:thumb
Old timers must be setting in, I can't even remember who I drove with in the 1987 1000...:P

One of the locals enjoying the view.
still waiting for the images to arrive
We were there on the Saturday.
Well done you guys...
I don't recall any of you lifting off through the first chicane;
unlike some of the other entrants:o
I'll have a look at our pics; I think my wife got a short video capture of the MightyBoy

Thanks for that Chris, the memory is going.........I've never had Brock around for dinner again.
If you want me to be the patron of WSCC I'll consider it.
