that day in 2001 was a 'driver education day' we set up witches hats from the first corner to the fork. You were SUPPOSED to weave through them. Also had water in the pit area doing some heavy braking work coming down the hill. Someone had the bizarre idea of what could you do if we started halfway down pit lane. You may be able to drop near another 1 or 2 seconds off that, but hooking into turn 1 and 2 at that speed was an unknown and had to be treated with respect. From the fork onwards we are travelling at the limit so you wouldnt be able to make any time up there.

pity there are too many controls to let you do crazy stuff like that these days.

Would be interested in what times you guys get around Mt Cotton (craig?), arn't the aust champions ships there this year?

Maybe you should define class to? Raod reg class, improved production? or maybe level of mods, eg street, full race etc etc?

Type 1 & 2 basically standard road cars, small mods.
Type 3 basically comply with CAMS 3J rules ie same manufacturer and configuration of engine, but anything can be done to it. Bodywork has to remain original. treaded tyres. If turbo there has to be a restrictor on inlet (why mine went into type 4)
Type 4 CAMS sports sedans fiberglass addons allowed, perspex windows, any engines
Type SV 4WD/limited compliance/kit cars
Type 5 anything not complying with the above. My kombi went into type 5 because previously commercial vehicles didnt comply with anything.

I too was present on this day and tried this in my sports sedan ...... for the first time ever I had to brake hard for the first corner and then completed the run in 22.3secs.
Not bad for a N/A type-4 powered 62' beetle .
I also set a new track record back in 2003 for sports sedans 2001-3000cc of 24.45secs which still stands today .

I just thought I would push this one up the ladder so Heath could put his new Tamworth record on.
