Round 7 NSW Hillclimb Championship
Tamworth - Oakburn Park
Sat 7th July 2007 - Practice 10am start
Sun 8th July 2007 - Race day 9am start
Any country VW owner/driver's interested in watching or doing this event? This is a friendly event to watch at as the whole circuit can be seen from
the sideline. Its also a great event to drive at with a mixture of tight turns and long straights and, the Tamworth locals are a hoot.
There are a few of us who are planning on doing this event in our Beetles. Hopefully Colin Mayman might make a return in his rebuilt Beetle.
We would like to go but, I cant see it happening. We were there last weekend for the Tri- Challenge round and had a great time.I found this site to say how impressed I was with Heath and Christine Campbells VW, that thing cracks! it sounds so strong through its rev range, and its driven very well. I would just like to thank Heath for the ass kicking, cant wait till next time.
and Heath and Christine remember it would be rude to beat us on our home track !!!!!
Zed308 If you made it back you'd have three VW's to race against, tripple the fun. Now you've registered on the VW Site you're halfway to
defecting from the 240Z to the Beetles.
A beetle couldn't be quicker than a rocket ship V8Z at Kempsey drag race track, could it??????Ha Ha. You could square up the battle by removing 4
plug leads
Craig are you planning on going to Tamworth?
Colin wasn't at the Tri Challenge, I believe his beetle is being Dyno Tuned this weekend in preparation for the state round
HC
if i was going to 'square up' the battle I would also have to remove 250-300 kg;s from the car.I,m not quite ready to pull the old 308 out just yet
and fit a VW motor, but you never know. now weres that tape measure.

zed 308 U2U sent
After missing Canberra and Wakefield due to the accident damage from Bathurst there's really no point in running the other rounds, so no I won't be
at Tamworth. I also have some other toys that need some attention!!
How's the injection and crank fire ignition going?
That must be worth more $$$ than my whole car !!!
All the best for the state round :thumb

For those of you who are interested there are four (4) beetles as well as some quick vw open wheelers entered for this event, so there is going to be some good vw action. Hopefully the rain will stay away for the w/e and we all have a couple of good days of racing. If anyone does go to watch, come on up and say hello when your at the track.. C u there.
zed308 four times the reasons to go back to Tamworth
we'll be racing Garfield on Sunday
bat69, besides our beetles who are the other two to make the four?
You and Heath in Garfield, me in the Batmobile and Marty in VDU.88A. So I suppose that really makes 3 cars and 4 drivers.
Good stuff cya there
I'll be there my entry was confirmed so looks like i'll be making the trip and have a go at the track. I just have to figure out where it is now.
POZOOM [at least there is a Z in your name] We would be there with bells on,if budget allowed. I hope you have a good and fast time.

So how did it go ,who won what and how quick. It must have been cold, great for HP bad for grip = FUN.
It was a good 2 days saturday had reasonable weather conditions up until about 4 oclock when it started to rain but buy then everyone had had enough
practice.
Sunday weather conditions were not so good with rain on and off but good enough to allow some quick times to be set in the dry periods.
Results:
Heath Placed first in the 3J under 2001cc catagory and also setting a new lap record. (not only once but 3 times).
Nathan was not too far behind heath and picked up second.
Christine also picked up fastest lady of the event.
Congratulations guys you did well.:thumb
I also had a enjoyable weekend and am happy with my results which improved during the weekend.
Thanks to the Tamworth Sporting Car Club, SES and CAMS officials for making the day possible.
Heres a few pics for those who couldn't make it.

well done to everyone , Heath and Christine congrats. I thought about it all weekend would loved to have been there. The Tamworth crew are great. We would love to have a go at the state series one day [sorry day dreaming again] maybe in a few years it will happen ,who knows. Heath class record I am impressed , well driven.
zed308 it was a weekend with very little grip available compared to 2 weeks prior. Would have been a lot of fun trying to get all those horses of
yours to the ground, I'd say a little hair raising. There were lots of spins and plenty of cross country driving. I compared the data logging from
the hillclimb to the first lap of our lap dash and we were down in corner and straight line speed all round the track.
Correct you are the Tamworth guys and girls are great value, a good weekend is always had there. :beer
Looking forward to seeing the Kempsey crew and that tricky piece of old highway.
Cool footer comment
what's the date for Kempsey peoples?
The kempsey hill climb is on the 26th of august.
Kempsey is on 1st and 2nd September.Looking forward to seeing you there ,hopfully good weather. Their are a lot of veedubs with more HP then me in dyno thead. I would be curious to know how much yours has got at the wheels POZOOM.
We seem to have a problem here, our club magazine has the dates for Kempsey as the 25/26 of August and the host club has 1/2 of September. We have
just double checked our magazine.
Sounds like you guys might be holding 2 events on consecutive weekends. Hard workers at that kempsey club.
Kempsey is [and by our calenders always has been] the 1st ,2nd Sept. I checked with Chis Seam [the man behind our events] tonight. Chis is ringingJohn Finch tonight to confirm this.anyone quicker than me is not welcome[ha ha]
Well the date of Kempsey hillclimb has had to be changed to 25-26 August to suit the majority. If it rains on the 25-26 th and is fine on the 1st 2nd I wont be a happy camper. If we get a good weekend Im sure my Tin Top record will be broken, probably by more than one car too, anyway looking forward to seeing you all there.
