Hi All,
Normally us Sydney folk go to the VW Nationals at Easter. It always clashes with the BugIn.
This year the Nationals will be held on 25th May.
So the BugIn looks very exciting. Especially the events on Easter Saturday 22nd March at Oran Park. There's a Motorkhana on the skid pan. These are
heaps of fun. There's also a lap dash on the Oran Park North circuit. That's the figure 8 using the part of the circut with the Yokohama bridge.
There's also a Khanacross on the figre 8 dirt circuit. If that's not too rough I'll probably give that a go too.
Oran Park will close in 2008 or 2009 so this may be the last opportunity to drive on this famous historic circuit before it becomes a housing
development.
The same thing happened to Amaroo Park raceway in Sydney's north west. The VW Nationals had a lap dash there but I didn't have my car finished and
have always regretted not driving around the circuit that I spent my childhood at watching the racing.
So Circuit Racers and Hill Climbers come along and make this the roundy-roundy racing version of the fantastic turnout at the Warwick drags.
We should be able to get:
Rudi's sports sedan
Jak & Paul's WRX beetles
2 Vforce beetles
Col Maymans new hillclimb superbug from Tamworth
Heath and Christine's hillclimb beetle from the Newcastle area
Greg Wards Hillclimb car
Maybe Paul Zanellos white beetle can come out of retirement
Vintage Veedubs Tarmac Rally car
Something from the Debasi squadron
Dave Sidery from Qld
Who else?
Bring it on!

Count me in.Targa is april, so should be fine.

Neil Penboss has a circuit car being prepared for Bug-In.
I'll be taking taking something down, either the VWMA rat drag bug with some changes for the circuit side of things, or I've got an Oval stashed
away which could use some outside time.
Last chance to run on Oran Park. Too good to miss.
2 cars from me.
A bit of circuit with a little bit of dirt action thrown in is a dame good combination. Count me in on those ones.
Oh yeah - I'm DEFINITELY in, and also gonna do as much as I can to hold BiX to his "should be fine"....
Team WPVW will be there in force with 3 fully prepared cars and a 4th in the pipeline .
The WPVW hillclimb sports sedan is up and running once again after sitting in the corner of the shed for the last 3 years collecting dust .
Looking forward to another wonderful VW event .
do you need to have a roll cage and what licensing do you need to get a look in.
Ill be there.
That car Dutchy is a piece of art! Lots of people are looking forward to seeing you!
Hi Rufbug,
Normally for single car speed events you just need a securely mounted fire extinguisher, securely mounted battery, secondary throttle return spring,
secondary bonnet tie-down (I just use a tie-down strap through the bonnet handle and around the bumper brakkets) and non-synthetic wrist to ankle
clothing. Then there's a helmet and leather shoes.
Normally you only need a rollbar if your car is a convertable.
The regs are probably on the CAMs site somewhere. One of the technical boffins might paste them in below.
JVL,
Come on, dust off the beetle and bring it to the track.
Dutchy,
Beautiful work. Your car is my new favourite car and I haven't even seen it in the flesh.

Sorry Col,
Your car was my favourite car. Not any more. But a close second. Take that stupid stinger off and it could be my favourite sounding car.
Cam, please explain your icon thingy.

Hi Cam,
If you come up to the BugIn and i bump into you, you can have my mobile phone and wallet. No questions asked!
You may also have the same reaction to the food at Oran Park, if not worse! Each time I go out there I recognise the sandwiches from my previous visit
which is usually about 6 months prior.
Even more scary, why was your friend taking a photo of the roof?
JVL,
I did like your car but I came to the realisation that it was probably a mirage (I saw it once and then it disappeared).

Did you win the lotto Craig?
Or have you sold the rights to the episode of Renovation Rescue that you starred in?
Do you have video footage of you scaring the daylights out of the presenter in your beetle? I'd love to see it on YouTube?
Adelaide is a good place to look for VWs. They build some tough show quality cars down that way.
