King Edward Park Hillclimb 20th & 21st Oct
bat69 - October 19th, 2007 at 10:19 PM

I know its late but I have not had the internet for the past 3 weeks and I have to rely on my parents dial up 2 hrs away.

This week end is the final round of the NSW Hillclimb Championship on sat 20th Oct.

There are 7 Vw beetles entered including myself, the Campbells and Duries beetles (just to name a few) as well as Stan in his now supercharged open wheeler and a few Fvee's.

Start time 9:00am
Finish time 4:00ish
Where: King Edward Park Newcastle

Sunday is also a round of the tri challenge so there are a shit load more cars competing on Sunday as well. Details are the same as above (start/finsh times etc).

This event is the 50th time this event has been run so it is going to be HUGE. So if you have a few hours spare come up and watch some quality motorsport. There are even a number of interstate competitors making there way down (or up) for this event.

See you there.

So how did the Beetles go ??

SAT 21ST - STATE ROUND

The beetles had a mixed bag. Heath campbell didnt run due to injuring himself so Christine flew the flag for the campbell family. Christine was fastest lady driver and (I think) 5th in class with a time of 42.7. Ben durie and Grant cook had to call it quits after the 2nd run with engine trouble (broken push rod). Ben managed 4th in class with a time of 42.4 while grant was 6th. I tried my hardest to try and mix it with a big bucks bda cosworth escort from qld. This thing has had more money spent on it then what I spent to buy my house in western sydney....(and thats no B.S). I was very happy with my results of 3rd in class (41.3 - 18th o/r - out of 89 cars entered) although I broke my drive shaft on my last and what prob would have been my fastest run. I managed a 118kph into the pinch (3 kph faster then the escort) on this run. The escort was 1st and 2nd in class (dean tighe 40.8 & danny mischock 41.2). Noel porter won the fvee class and set a new record (I dont the time sorry) and Stan pobjoy had a good run although he is still trying to fix some teething probs with the new supercharged beast. . ... Man his thing can go hard.. It is going to be super fast when he gets it all sorted. A full report will can be read in VWMA.

That was the last round of the nsw hillclimb champiomship for 2007. I managed to win the Imp Pro 1601-2000cc class and was 2nd fastest tin top (sedan - including sports sedans) for the championship. John Abbott scored 2nd in class while Heath Campbell got 3rd. Peter gumley won the hillclimb championship outright in his vw powered open wheeler and Noel porter won the Fvee class. Congrats to every one in this years championship. These results prove the humble vee dub is still a competative vehicle in motorsport.
