hi everyone,on the 27th of April the TSCC is holding a lapdash at Oakburn park. The track is only 5min from town and is a little bit like Raleigh
raceway at Raleigh.
Cost to enter is 80.00 if you pre enter or 100.00 on race day.The format is 1 car at a time with 1 full warmup lap then 3 flying laps then 1 full
warmdown.
You must have a L2S cams license to enter, and a fun day will be had.
I plan on entering and guess you would get approx 20 laps for your money. So if your bored this Anzac weekend come to Tamworth you will have a blast,or
come and say hello.
Cheers Col
Doh - same day as the next hillclimb at Mt Cotton, otherwise I'd seriously consider making the trek down...
So ran today at the lapdash.Weather was cool and changed from very windy to bloody windy.First run was more of a tyre scrub for me as i couldn,t get
temp into the engine so i kept the revs under 5000rpm.Tyres are 8years old and are at best stuffed, so a cool day didn,t help.
Second and third runs gave her heaps and was happy with the motors performance, it,s amazing what some thoughtfull and delibrate dyno sessions can
do. On the back straight i always held second gear to the corner but today found myself changing into third and giving it a quick squirt before
jumping on the brakes. The new MSD ignition seemed to clean up some stutters i always had around the slow corners and i find the engine revs quicker
now, maybe my imagination but maybe not.
Last two runs tryed a little to hard and got untidy on a few corners still coming to grips with the ZF limo, but gave a few spectators some nice power
slide action. So in summary, motor went great plenty of power and much more torque than before, suspension okay, hard to say because i think my tyres a
stuffed.
Won my class and had a few people say to me "whats in the back a Porsche motor?" like nobodys heard that before, and drove the black beetle back
onto the trailer safe and sound.Great day good fun.
Ohh and no CT i didn,t loop it on my first lap.
Cheers Col
Good work Colin!!
Did you try the longer ram tubes?
Good to see you have your car now cranking. With your car now on the mark you should make your way to Grafton for the hillclimb over the June long weekend. There a few beetles planning on running this one. Be good to see you there.
Thanks heaps Dave and bat69,i would like to venture over to Grafton.Have to wait and see,as i said even after 3 flying laps at Tamworth the tyres
still had no grip or heat in them so they truly are stuffed. But you put up with what you,ve got until you can afford better.
Most important was the engine really cracked even in the mid range so Keith and i are very happy with it now.I am running harder shocks and springs as
well after talking to Rudi Frank and although it,s early days my sister said she felt the car looked nice and flat thru the corners with no pitching
under acceleration or braking. So thanks Rudi for your input and advice.
There is always someone who knows more about a subject or problem than you so who better to ask suspension questions than Rudi.
I didn,t do any velocity stack tests i will try something next time i am on the dyno.Thats the best place i feel,it never lies.
Cheers Col
well done Colin, the long wait and hard work is paying off

I have always been a fan of your car colin so to see you back racing again would be cool.. Having an extra beetle to race against would be great. The
more the merrier. I know what your talking about when you start playing with suspension and making adjustments. The improvements ican be very
noticable.
The notch would be good too but what I would love to see is a little green beetle that rev's to 50000rpm, or some ridiculous rpm and handles like it
is on rails out racing again......
