Gday all
Just a short post to let you all know that the Australian Hillclimb Championship will be held at Bathurst this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (Nov 7,8
& 9).
Stan Podjoy and defending champion Peter Gumley have entered there VW powered open wheelers to compete for first outright. Open wheelers and drivers
from England and all over Australia.
We have only 2 beetles entered this year driven by Grant Cook and Myself, Our main opposition will come from 5 Escort RS2000's that are coming from
all over Australia. Some entrants I have never heard of before.
Please come and say hello if you make the trip to the mountain
Heath
Good luck to you Heath and Cooky, show em some vw grunt.
Cheers Col
Yeah Heath, good luck to both you and Cooky.
Man am I disappointed I couldn't the trip !!!
the legend of the lakes hill climb in mount gambier is on this weekend also.
yeah Heath, Grant go kick some Ford asses with a VW
Good luck this weekend guys. Kick some Ford arse!
Good luck, hopefully you will be able to kick some escort arse. Keep us informed and let us know how you both go. I would love to be joining you two but I decided at the last minute to pull my entry and put the time/money saved into my beetle rebuild. The time and money saved will put me on track to have it ready for next year. Good luck.
Go hard Guys!!
Here's hoping the VW gods smile on you
Has any been, seen or spoken to anyone who might be able to give us an update as to how the VWs are going. Ive just spend the last hour or so surfing the net to see if I can find any info and there is F/A... Would have thought it would have got some coverage some where on the net with it being an Australian Championship and all.

Escort is slaughtering them..............My class record of 29.5 has been taken today by the Escort with an awesome quick run of a mid 28 something
!!! This car has a cosworth twin cam 16 valve motor producing unbelievable HP.....and has the best money can buy in it.
I remember beating it at the 2006 Australian Bathurst Hillclimb and he was pisssed a VW beat him !
I would have had fun with him this year if I was still racing, I'm sure we would have both been in the low 28's if we pushed each other.
The VW's are going very well with both cars into the mid to high 29's.................Bat69 you better pull your finger out as I think you will be
left behind next year

Yep.
Thta is a very nice car with a lot of goodies under the hood.
Mischok's car is on the trailer sitting on the footpath outside his house. Drove past it this morning on my bus run....
Heh heh - best place for it (on the trailer), bloody noisy Ford POS that it is...
(not really - he's got some brilliant gear on it - I'd love to have even a quarter of the $$$ to throw at my beetle)
Noosas' hillclimb is this coming weekend, any VWs racing??
GDay All
Thanks for the encouragement but it wasn't enough to get us home.
We were well beaten by danny.......we were just short of horsepower when compared to the eski
Its not often you get under an existing record three times in a weekend and end up beaten
I came second and Grant third
A comparison of data logging with Danny told the hole story, I was 5kms faster round Forest Elbow but 9 kms slower arrival speed just before the
dipper....... then the same all over again to the finish
Had a great weekend can't wait to have another crack at an Australian Title again in Victoria next year...... All feedback from the locals is the new
Morewell track would suit the beetles more than the escort of Dannys as it is much less of a power track, that is when conpared to
Bathurst.......You'd still have to fight like all hell though to prize the trophy away from Danny and a very fast Gemini that is a local
Maybe a wilder 2L engine with say an extra 25 horses would make the difference......hmmmm have to see how the budget fares
Well done Heath for having a serious crack at it!
Nice to know you have the handling so well sorted.
