remember what i told you about this guy drives at 120% every lap lucky not to be hurt car hasnt even got a cage in it would have hit the wall at 120 plus ks cheers
maybe we will see a cage in it next time
I made the entry list this time.
I can't wait to have a final run around Oran Park GP. I've got some unfinished business here. I think my best is 1:29s years ago. I'm hoping for
1:28s or 1:27s.
The challenge is driving the car to Queensland 5 days later for the drags. Oh well, another reliability test. Fingers crossed.
Who drives the civic? Or should I say who used to drive the civiic?
CT
ive put my entry in as well wasnt going to run this one but the last one on the gp circuit,.70 top gear set arrived this morning from albins wont have time to fit it this week just have to settle for 25ml taller rear tyres shuld give me an extra 25 more ks on the straight ,trying new set of chromemoly push rods as well, sadly retiring my air coolednet alloys as they are whipping under acceleration, destroying my pushrod tubes, big oil leaks and lots of smoke any way hope i get in cheers Rudi

How did every one go. Rudi, Paul, CT or anyone else who went out for a fang?
Hi
Rudi got down to 1.17??, he had FTD when we left but he was packing up for the day, he broke a rocker stud.
CT was beaming, he told me the time but I cant remember it.
Paul was having starter troubles but other than that was having a ball.

Looks like everyone was really having a ball and setting some great times. Congratulations Rudi on your 1st O/R and your time of 1.17. That is fantastic effort and time. Paul you to were on fire winning your class as well. An excellent time too. CT was that your fastest aroud there? becuase if it was congrates to you to. I just wish I was out there with you have a blast. Great to See the Beetles sticking it to them on the track.
Hi
It was great day, a little windy. The start was a standing start, all the Beetles won every "drag race" convincingly.
Rudi's car is still under geared he had to back off the rev limiter on the straight at around the start of the new pits, even with taller rear tyres,
got to be a second or 2 there.
Rudi beat all of the clubmans and open wheelers as well, these cars are deceptively fast.
Steve
another great day out this was the last nswrrc sprint on the gp circuit .very well run event ran smoothly all day no oil spills or oter delays ct ran a pb of 1.27 paul zanello a1.22 and a 1.17 for my.self broke a rocker stud start of the 4th heat still plenty left in this set up cant stop smiling cheers Rudi
It was an awesome day to spectate and i can't imagine what it was like to compete. I took a mate along and converted him to volkwagens
Oran Park is an amazing track. My car is set up perfectly for Eastern Creek and Wakefield Park but Oran Park was a surprise. I haven't run around
there since 2006.
In my first run I was getting huge understeer off the bridge. Then the oil light was coming on through Suttons corner after the esses. Not good.
I checked the oil level and it was on the top line. I didn't want to over-fill the oil and have the breather overflow again. John L and I decided to
add another 500ml which worked. Boy what a balance between oil surge and over-flow.
I think the oil pick-up was gulping air coming off the bridge, which is a very long corner, and the air would go right up the front through the oil
cooler and back to the main gallery where the pressure sender is by the time I got to suttons and the oil alarm would go off. Just a theory.
I decided to refit the small swaybar I've been carrying around to try and cure the understeer. I reversed the car up on Rudis trailer and bolted it
up.
It cured the understeer and made the car sharper through turn 2 and 3.
On the second run I hosed a 350z off the line and then caught the commodore and nizzan silvia 200 sx that started 20 seconds earlier in just a lap and
a half. The commodore jumped on the brakes when the nissan lost it and wen though the small gravel trap and hit the tyre wall. The damage was only
cosmetic and, to his credit, he rejoined the sprint in the next run. The session was red flagged due to the accident.
Run three was good but my quick lap was ruined by a mustang doing a 360 through the esses in front of me.
I managed to have a good run and did a 1:27.7 which is what I was hoping for. I think the car and driver could go quicker. The car needs to be set up
a lot more aggressively for oran park. The tyres are getting nice and hot and the car drifts, gets understeer and oversteer. But judging by the tyres
the fronts could do with aonther degree of negative camber taking it up to 2.5 to 3 degrees.
Well done to Rudi for being the fastest outright against PRBs, open wheelers and sports sedans. Well done to Paul for a super impressive time. Well
done to the members of the NSW Road Racing club for wanting to run and old school standing start sprint. Well done to NSWRRC for putting on the event
for just $100 entry fee. It's got to be the best $100 I've ever spent.
Bring on warwick. The car survived Oran Park and after a change of wheels and pulley it's ready for the long drive.

Looks like you fellas had a ball - and did some quick times too! Wish I could have been there, but due to 'circumstances beyond my control' I missed
out. By the way, shouldn't CT have BOTH hands on the steering wheel? Nice going.
Cheers, Greg
