Fancy meeting up sometime on either Thursday 15th, Friday 16th or Saturday the 17th of April (need to be back in Köln by 18:00 on the Saturday tho) for a leisurely drive through the Eifel Mountains?
hmmm interesting :#
That would be nice huh Cam?
I cannot find any data on the http://www.nuerburgring.de site if there is
Touristenfahren that day however...
If there is TF and I can make it (try to keep the friday/saturday that weekend free), lets see if we can do a lap or so together ;-)
It would be great, I'd like to do a lap as a passenger in your car, as well as just being on track at the same time.
I'm not very familiar with the EU forums, is there any chance of getting some more VW's to join us?
I spoke with Theo @ rent-racecar and he said the TF dates will be released in about 2 weeks and will e-mail me as soon as he knows.
There are already some event dates listed for around that time, so I think it's a safe bet to say that those dates should be free.
Cam,
The only EU forum with cars capable to run there is the germanlook forum imo and our own dutch forum http://www.keversite.nl . I will post dates there and keep some sort of log if possible.
The only unofficial time table for TF is this pdf.
As it seems, the friday has the only reasonable amount of time to warrent a trip over for me. So lets say Friday at 14:30 hours at the main entrance
('Ab-Zufahrt') ?

Ok, so they match the opening times we had in concept? Thats good.
Just now being busy trying to give you some added safety if my clumsy driving scares you too much
Very impressive Do you have a spare helmet for passengers?
Not long now
Yeah, I have a spare helmet at home, which I will bring for you if you don't forget to bring along your own baclava ;-)
I have a HUGE head, so I suppose yours will always fit
I don't need to go to Germany for a big head contest. That's what the internet is for
When you take me out for a passenger lap, I will give Simone the keys to the rental & ticket to the track. I have to warn you though, she's fast
Well, its not a race, but a tourist-drive as you know.
I will also definately not try to impress you and crash the both of us...
but otoh, the turbo will run on 15 psi
You will probably sit in the recaro seat by then as I have also changed seats ;-)
I also made myself a camera mount and have just tested it the other day when she was out for the first time again after so many months. So you will
know what your view will be:

I'm more worried about the nut holding the camera
I know it's not a race, just like we're not allowed to have video cameras either
You're still up for it Cam?
Little preview of me testing the updated stuff:

I sure am!
Flights: booked
Hotel: booked
Car(s): booked
We're staying at the circuit on the Thursday night, picking the car up at 14:00 on the Friday
When we arrive in Germany on the Wednesday I will be getting an EU sim for my phone. I will send you a private message (here on AVD) with the phone
number, probably Wedsnesday night when we get to the hotel.

It was great meeting you and your GF Cam!
Here's a pic of when she was the passenger with my oversized helmet:
Great photos mate.
Thanks for the passenger rides, the power of your engine and how well it's delivered is not only very impressive but a real credit to you and all
involved in building your car.
It was great fun hanging out with you guys. Talking aircooled tech' in a group over dinner in Adenau makes for the perfect end to a great day
Same time next year?
I found a photo of Simone & I. This is on the lap we went out on the track with you in that massive freight train of cars.
Great picture as well!
It was stunning to notice how much faster you went then me in the beetle. You surely have driving skills!
I have the lap with Simone on vid. Its the last uploaded on my youtube account IIRC under: http://www.youtube.com/user/Fusca03
Thanks mate. Have you found any other photos on other websites?
I have only ever driven the 'ring in the rain (and it was proper rain), so I was astounded at how much faster it was in the dry. In particular
through the Fox Hole, over 200K/PH and it knocks all the air out of your lungs at the bottom - amazing!
I didn't have a stop watch, but counting the minutes on the digital clock I got 8 minutes_something, which I'm very happy with.
What I wasn't happy with was the guy in the new GT-R, he seemed to think the rules of the track did not apply to him and he could not only take up
the whole road but also block other drivers. It took a pretty aggressive outbraking move to get past him and have some clear track again.
Cool video too. Did you have the camera going on our last lap in the two cars?

Post all the pic's you want, I changed the subject of the thread to warn those with limited internet
That's a great shot with the front wheel floating on the track.
Here is one similar, but with the rear wheel - that's Front Wheel Drive for you :p
I told Simone the place stays with you. She said she has been constantly thinking about places to go faster, and wants to return next year
It's a scary spot, the Fucksrohre... super fast! And that wall of tarmac facing you as you're about ascend out of the left hander is unlike anything
else in the world and does not show on videos, or computer games. I can't imagine taking a beetle through there, let alone at 160KPH!
All back again in one piece Cam? I take it the rest of the holiday was fun as well judging from the places you were still going too.
