Bathurst Light Car Club is hosting round 2 "the esses' and round 3 "mountain straight" hillclimb this weekend.
The esses will be ran on Saturday with mountain straight on Sunday.
I will be competing and i suspect and hope Greg Ward , Glen Torrens and Wayne Penrose will also attend.
If anyone is in the area come and say hello.
Cheers Col
Fond memories of my 3 1/2 years in Bathurst. It was where I first saw hillclimb and fast beetles.
Go hard guys!!
Go well Volksy blokes!
Apparently my car held a record at the Bathhurst hill climb in the late 80's .
I certainly would not have had the balls to steer that thing around corners!!
Anyone ever see it do that?
Have fun Colin.......best of luck

Any results guys??
Okay, home after a long trip last night. Arrived home at 11.10pm tired but still pumped after a memorable weekend of fanging the little black bug,up
and around Mount Panorama.
I am sure Craig will cover the event in the mag in detail so i,ll share a few personal highlights of the weekend.
I arrived at the circuit in the early evening on Friday. Theres something spiritual about Mount Panorama Bathurst, and i felt a few nerves and a
tingle up my spine as a drove up the circuit and into the pits at Mcphillamy Park.
Bathurst is famous for it,s changable weather but we had two fantastic days. Clear and fine, warm enough for tyres, but cool enough for good air
cooled horsepower.
Camping up on the mountain with my fellow Tamworth Car Club members and sharing storys and a beer or two around the camp fire.
Getting to know Heath Campbell and Glen Torrens alot better. Thanks for the great racing, three tough angry beetles on the mountain sure got the
attention of a few people in the spectator area. Great job guys.
Mountain Straight Hillclimb first bend. Of the start line, bag full of revs of towards turn one Griffins bend 300metres up the road. The approach full
noise 4th gear touched 6800rpm quick brake back to 3rd gear shift light on , whoops thats 7500rpm decelerating punt her in hit the apex accelerating
hard of the ripple strip.Car starts to four wheel drift pull 4th gear get to right hand side of track and head towards the cutting full noise exhaust
echoing of the concrete barriers.
Heath and i having a discussion about the fact that both cars were bogging of the start line despite both of us leaving the line at 6000rpm. After a
long talk we both came to the earth shattering conclusion, more revs.
After arriving in the pits after my third run seeing Heath jumping about like he has ants in his undies, i pull up whats wrong?. He says with a smile
like a split watermelon i did a 720 coming out of Griffins bend. We both laughed so hard i hurt my belly as i was still firmly strapped into my
harness.
Getting a up close look at Glens Wrecker Racer? well done mate.
Thanks for a great weekend of racing and hope to meet again at Cooperbung Hillclimb.
To wrap up the weekend in one word exilarating!
Cheers Col
