HappyDaze - May 15th, 2010 at 09:12 AM

My favourite corner - or bit of track - of all is "The Esses" at Bathurst, what's yours?

Cheers, Greg

Haven't driven on a whole lot of tracks, but my fav so far would be "The Kink" at Lakeside... in it's old "you need to be very #$%^in careful and get this spot on" form before they resurfaced and widened the track.

Closely followed by the final turn onto the straight at Carnell Raceway (Stanthorpe).

Snap Crackle Bang - May 15th, 2010 at 10:38 AM

I agree about that corner at Carnell.

Caltex Chase I think is my favourite corner, not that i've ever driven it in anger, it's just great to see cars go into a bend at such speed!! it is close between that and Hell Corner though...

Used to be the hard right hander going up Buladelah mountain in my younger days travelling to Newcastle, but those days are gone along with speed limits, bypasses etc.Ah memories.
:crazy::crazy:

I have two (sadly both gone)
BP (before the strait) at Oran Park - if you have the grunt and gonads to let it slide out and just kiss the wall on exit
The Loop at Amaroo - stuff it up and everything is is buggered till you get to the right hander before the strait

You're spot-on there - get it wrong though ( which is what I did most times), and the next 3 or 4 corners are also 'stuffed up'.

mactaylor - May 16th, 2010 at 04:42 PM

yeah its fun i try and make it a double apex in the subaru and a single in the low power bmw cant wait to try it in a beetle with some herbs!

Pepper tree corner at the old Tamworth hillclimb.....Oxley Lookout.

BeetleJuice - May 16th, 2010 at 08:59 PM

Caracciola Karussell at the Ring!

Love the History!!

Named for Rudolf Caracciola who reportedly made the corner his own by hooking the inside tyres into a drainage ditch. As more concrete was uncovered and more competitors copied him, the trend took hold. At a later reconstruction the corner was remade with real concrete banking, as it remains to this day.
