Hi, thought it would be a good idea to start a new thread about the relatively new Historic Formula Vee Category, it is already thriving in N.S.W and QLD and is on its way in victoria. Anyway, if you have any stories, info on unknown or known cars, used to have one, or want one put up a post........
When I was racing a Vee, over 40 years ago, the idea of Historic Formula Vee would have seemed absurd.
The idea now looks fine. I hope the standard of driving and car preparation is maintained at a high level.
Cheers, Greg
Thank for the reply Greg, probably would of! its ironic but anything even remotly related to a VW seems to have a dedicated following! What sort of Vee did you race? and yes the competition is still as feirce as ever up in N.S.W. , and the cars just seem to keep on getting better!
I am trying to put up a picture of my 1979 Stag vee that my dad and i are restoring so keep a look out.......
P.S Greg, I love your no.8 Beetle, i saw it at winton a couple of years ago, and it was flying!!!!!!

I'll post some pics of the Tasman racing when I get internet back at home.

Elfin 6821 is currently MIA ... Barry Collins (up near Newcastle way) owned it in the late 90's and sold it to some guy in Paddington in Sydney and
it has been seen since.

Hi All,
As a follow up to the Tasman Meetong which saw around 22? Cars compete, I just thought id let everyone know that there will be three Cars competing at
the VHRR hillclimb at Rob Roy on the 1st of May, make sure you come along and check it out.
Cheers, Grant.
Am keen for those photos, I have had two vees - both of which were 73-74 stags - which I always thought were the best looking of the models around -
not that it is supposed to be about the looks.
Peter
Do you know what those Stags are up to? Mine is a 1979 Stag, raced mainly in victoria.........

Good stuff, i will try and get a few photos up of some vees at historic rob roy hillclimb after sunday...............
Grant
Hi evereyone, have a look at the Victorian Historic Racing Register (VHRR) websit under photos for some rob roy pics.
Wow,
Shame the pics are so small.
Good to see a Historic Formula Vee or two at some Hill Climbs in Vic.
I'm rebuilding a Mko Mk1 for use later this year. Where would I find a pattern for a Mako Mk1 windscreen? There is a guy here in Canberra who can cut me a new windscreen from polycarbonate using a laser cutter - but I need a pattern. If someone has a Mk1 and can use some brown paper to mark out the shape of their windscreen and then fold that up and send it to me in the mail, I'd be very appreciative. Please e-mail me for details. Thanks.
Try Frank Kleinig - he built the Mako.......0408 219 496
Hi,
I think is o/s on holidays at the moment (could be wrong), you'll probably get to talk to Daniel K. Might be an idea to come up to Eastern Creek for
the HSRCA meeting on the 25-26 Jun and have a chat to the Historic Formula Vee guys. Greg Stott should have his Mako there you might be able to get a
pattern of that or ask how it got his one made.
Greg Mako at Ringwood with wide rims !!!

Hey Ian
Does my old Elfin still get around?
Cheers
E
Hi Evan,
Big John Mc still has it, last I heard he was getting an original Elfin body and it's old body was in Sydney.
Not seen any photo of John running it at Wakefield he has been running the Wilco in the G.E.A.R. meetings but I assume it will get there soon.
Regards,
Ian
Just found this on E-bay, whilst not Historic (just) may be of interest.

Peter Turnbull kicked my back side in Hill Climbs in 90's in that car, he was a good driver for someone with one eye.

A better pic of Grant at Rob Roy
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know anything about the ex- David Eyre Walker C.M.S formula vee? As we have just bought the car down here in Victoria (My Dad and I) on
behalf of my Grandpa. All we know is that at some stage between 1974 and 1979 the chassis was either written off or just replaced with something more
substantial, and a strange custom body put on. We believe that it had run with an elfin body with a square style Malmark nose up until the chassis
change. Any info would be much appreciated.
Regards Grant
On sunday was the multiclub hillclimb at Bryant Park (moe vic.) It was a great day and we had 5 vee's entered. The next multiclub hillclimb is on the
17th of july, all you need is a 2S liscense which you can get online or through the mail (see cams web) a helmet your car and membership to a car club
(bring your membeship card). If anyone wants the supp regs:
http://www.gippslandcarclub.com.au/suppregs.html ( The
top one)
So get your vee out and come and have a great day.
Cheers.
