There has been a lot of discussion on various car-related aspects of going faster.
What I think is possibly THE most important thing to have is 'traction control'. Not some fancy electronic device, but the ability of human brain to
control the right foot!
If you don't believe me, watch Peter Gumly in action!
Cheers, Greg
your on the ball there Greg! after all, the car
wont drive itself!
Grant
I don't believe in a car driving the driver.
so Greg, you ARE saying Gumley is good at it?

I am not a fan of electronic driver aids. Never had been and never will. I believe it de-tracks from the ability of a good driver who can 'feel' their car, who has high corning speed or even the driver who can take calculated risks and drive at 11/10th to make up time and/or set a good time and not crash. Electronic aids can even make a crap driver look good. In saying that, in order to be competitive in various forms of motorsport these days you need to invest in some form of electronic aid. Eg. like data logging. Thats just the way of the future. We are either getting smarting in inventing things like traction control etc (just mention one of a 1000 things) to make us go faster or lazier. And yes I agree with you 100% Greg. Having watched Peter Gumley drive first hand for over a decade now, the sign of an accomplished driver is their ability to control their car. Including wheel spin. In my opinion thats what a true dirver is.

A few years back, I had an interesting conversation with Peter Gumley. When I told him that he had 'traction control', he said "no I haven't - I
tried that, and was quicker without it!"
When I explained that I meant 'natural' and not 'electronic' traction control, he understood what I meant.
