I am fitting some whiteline sway bars to the Tampico racecar but can't figure out how to attach the rear bar to the shock mounts. Can a few of you
post some photos please.......
Also the U bolts that came with the kit, new in the box, are much bigger than the torsion bar tubs so I am concerned that the bar will shift even when
tight. I am thinking of getting some smaller U bolts and re drilling the brackets or welding the bracket base to the torsion bar. How have some of
you guys done it??
Mine's mounted up using the kit that came with the bar. No mods at all, and the U bolts obviously work fine as I've never had an issue with the bar
moving at all.
At the shock end, the square tube bolts onto the outside of the shock mount, transmission side... then the rubber bush with figure 8 mounts to the
tube.
Happy to grab some pics for ya, but it's pissing down here at the moment so not a great time to head out to the shed.
As they say... where else but Queensland !!!
the joys of living above your garage
nothing is tightened in these pics so ignore that but its how it goes on
Where did you get them? are they new/seconhand??? Been lookg for ages but have not found any... good luck with the build completion
.
aussiedubbin, the front was found in a garage in the middle of nowhere on my way from the outlaws place around gosford & home - thankyou mr
hellbugged
and that rear was aqquired from Bix on here & its on long term/semi permanent loan while he is overseas, the rear one i have was from sides &
its currently residing on colonel mustard off this forums L bug
soo long story short, all of them 2nd hand found through this forum/vwdcq members, your front one will be easier to track down than mine since BJ
fronts seem to be more common, getting one off someone with one is another matter though
Thanks and bigger. Thought there might have been a lead in. And you lou?
thanks for the replies guys. I got mine of ebay about a year ago brand new in the box from someone in Sydney/w'gong area, can't remember the
details but I got them for a song...... Then Boris, vvds, brought them up to valla for me last year so didn't even cost me freight! (I did have to
cook for Boris and Birchal that weekend tho...)
Yep, the photos above are how I thought they went together but wanted to be sure before I bolted it all in. I am surprised they went for such big U
blts but maybe this allows the bar to swing a bit???
i'll post some photos of it once I get it together in the next couple of evening.
thanks again guys.
okay, got the new boots on the shocks and fitted up all the gearbox mounts and bolted up the rear swaybar.
pics are on my racecar thread.
not sure how to paste the link in tho.....just go to;;;;
