What a great vw weekend started early on friday helping John L finish of his car then drive down to wakefield ,chat with a great bunch of fellow vw
nuts.got to road test new polo gti on run into town fo dinner outstanding car 7 speed dsg tranny, watch this car in the world rally champs, swapped car
for golf gti on the way home also very impresive cant believe the owners of these cars dont run them at the sprints,as u could never drive them
anywhere near their limits on the road, what a waste of an awsome car.
Anyway off tro sleep at about 11.00 Scruiteneering duties in the morning, started at 7.15 cars already lining up got Stuart to check my Lbug as not
allowed to check my own car, many well presented cars in all catergories, all with smiling faces eager to test their cars on the track,8.45 of to the
drivers briefing, then back to scruiteneering, then back to the marshaling area to take the new drivers for a veiw of the circuit with Rose in her red
beetle two laps then back to the pits.
Time now to check my Lbug tyres wheel nuts engine oil set rear wing and yes in the first heat ran low on fuel, new brake caliper combination gave a
firm pedal but not enough brake bias to the rear of the car making for some spectacular braking action at the end of the straights with front wheels
locking with very little pedal effort best time of 1.07s in the morning sessions,During the lunch break changed back to the willwoods and vented discs
very soft pedal but better weight transfer to the front of car[no more front wheel lockups, times down into the 1.06s,oil spill by vl commodore from
the fish hook all the way till the exit into the pits time to pack the car back onto the trailer, then help pack up flags and other club itemsand head
back to sydney .
sunday morn 6.30am off to eastern creek scruiteneering all still ok starting to think im a bit worse for wear decided to run two heats then head
home.
First heat headed out onto track 1st gear 2nd gear starting to smile third gear feeling good again first lap was a1.48 second 1.46 third 1.44 car was
feeling quite strong when i finished the heat was called into scruiteneering bay car was blowing a bit of smoke checked underneath looked like i
popped a push rod tube so decided to call it a day and head of to the nationals to help out my fellow club members who had been there from the night
before seting up everthing for the show on the sunday.
Any way that was my nationals weekend,Id also like to thank Raymond Steve Carter for helping me out on the day,as many hands do make it easier.well
done to all those that competed on both days and thanks to the officials and all the volenteers that did such a great job,as without u we cannot run
these events.
Cheers Rudi ps GO THE VOLKSY
Well done Rudy; big weekend for you
Thanks for helping run another great Supersprint
Cheers
Shaun
Well done for splitting the BMWs It was great to
watch that bug fly. It was my first ever track session and I had fun in the Golf R especially the tussle with Adam in the R36 trying to get under 1:13
(No luck, 1:13:0 was all we could get). I'd love to transfer my running gear into an old ultralight beetle body and have some real fun, but it was
just as much fun watching you.
Cheers,
Andrew
i would like more HP

Thats strange Dave Id like some more power too, u know u can never have too much.Had a great day with a great bunch of guys and gals, remember its not who is the quickest as u can have a great day out with your vw whether its got 40hp or 300hp,dual entries are an ideal way of going racing as u can split the costs and also the maintenance chors in half.See u at the track Cheers Rudi
Good work 1m13 in ur golf thats impressive for your first track day good to see a watercooled vw pushed hard i knew these cars had potential top job Andrew

the key to achieving race weight at Wakefield is to not eat at the Paragon before....
he he you just need to loose 10kg or maybe more lol
u can help me there LOL
Guys, can anyone tell me what time in the morning one is required to be at Wakefield to participate in the racing?
I'm trying to get plans (& $$$$$$) in place for 2012 & watn to try & sort out where will be the easiest / least hassle place to stay for
my family.
Are there other racres who's family comes down to watch them race? Thinking of doing this as my 40th pressie & therefore the family will probably
want to come & watch. A beetle chockas full of luggage will not be ideal, so thinking of staying in Sydney friday & sturday night so I can
just drive down & back & leave all my gear at the motel / hotel.
Cheers
Brendan
Gooday Brendan
you need to be down there by 7.30 to 8 or so so you can have the car scrutineered and prepared etc etc
also you need to have a current Club membership of a CAMS active club and current CAMS licence, helmut and suitable clothing and footwear
you need to add race numbers, tape lights, strap bonnet, add battery colour location, remove hub caps and any other junk on inside of car on the day
theres plenty of room in the pit garages to leave all your stuff
by the way its on Saturday May 26th 2012
Thanks Dave,
Time to start making plans, ran it past wifey & she's onboard. .
Cheers
Brendan
good planning
theres a palce to stay at the track but with family may be cheaper at a motel in Goulburn
