It,s Kempsey Sporting Car Clubs turn to host round 6 of the NSW Hillclimb Championship, on Sunday the 3rd of July.
This round is run on a part of the old Pacific Highway. It is a fast hillclimb, with a long straight start then a big braking area and into a tight
hairpin bend. Then it,s round the infamous sweeper (the corner that claimed 6 cars last year) and over the finish line.
Myself, Glen Torrens, Heath Campbell and Greg Ward are all confirmed starters. Glen and myself are planning to camp overnight at the track, and talk
tactics on Saturday night, well actually drink beer, but talking tactics sounds better.
I am confident my tramping issue is solved and look forward to some decent rpm starts.
Daimo if your still planning on coming some filming would be great, i,ll bring my camera.
Cheers Col

Jeff,
If you are going i might catch a ride with you if thats alright? How likely is it that ur going?
From Dylan
Dylan, only about 20% or 30% at this stage - unless the boss thaws a bit.
I possibly won't know until Sunday morning, but I will let you know if I am going. Unfortunately, it will be in my sister's Prado though.
Awwkayy well let us know. Arr yeah would be better to go in the bug but the Prado will get us there haha.
Hows your bug going? have you taken it to Adam yet? I been doing all the wiring on my bug this weekend. Still got more to do. In the coming week i
will be finishing the wiring and installing intimitant wipers, LED interior light (same as yours) and start to get together the basics together for my
fan/heater/defrost system.
From Dylan
Looks like great weather for the weekend see you all there.

Congrats on everyone for this event. I heard it was pretty dame close at the pointy end for the Imp Pro class with a 4cyl Torona and a Datto 1600 giving the bug boys a hurry up on the slippery track. I'm not to sure who won this class (I believe it was Heath) so maybe Col or Heath could fill us in. I do know Greg Ward won the U2L sport sedan class and set a new class record, smashing the existing record by 4 or 5 seconds. Well done everyone. BTW, cool photos and footage Damo. More please!
this might work, linked all the short vids into one. each piece comes from a seperate run........but hey, makes the track look nice and long!

an easy Sunday out
the black super sounded and looked fast , good to watch!......good on you all for getting amongst it away from the keyboard
oh, the runs are linked around the wrong way, so the footage closer to the pits is from the earler runs.......i think i saw runs 3, 4 and the starting
area of 5
was it Heath or Christene that trundled down the hill to the start with you and the others?
thanx daimo been looken to move up there so that helps heaps regards mac

The intrepid Beetle racers headed to Cooperabung Hillclimb last Sunday to compete in round 6 of the NSW Hillclimb Championships.
The usual suspects were all there including Christine Campbell sporting her new pink highlighted race suit.
Cooperabung is a very fast and treacherous event with many surface variations with a dry, damp, and wet sections of the track.
As usual the hairpin and braking area before the hairpin being the most dangerous, i was approaching the hairpin in 4th gear at 6000rpm, quiet
fast!.
All day Heath, Christine, myself and a Datto driver swapped fastest times. It was a real armwrestle all day but in the end Heath won the day.
Heath 1st in class, 30.256sec
Adrian (Datto) 2nd in class, 30.893sec
Christine 3rd in class, 30.987sec
Col 4th in class, 31.116sec
Glenn 5th in class, 34.448sec
In the Sports Sedan class 1601-2000cc Greg Ward smashed his rivals and carved over 5sec of the old record to win his class in a time of 31.006sec.
I can,t begin to tell you how much fun it was racing with and against the fellow Beetle racers this last weekend, we all had a fantastic day racing
and encouraging each other to go faster all day. Christine was at her shit stirring best all day and after 3 runs i thought i had bested her. But no
she pulled a blinder in the last run and beat me, well done Chrissy.
Next round is at Ringwood near Newcastle at the end of the month.

Allthough Greg handles the conditions perfectly.
