Wollongong Sporting Car Club will host Round 8 of the NSW Hillclimb Championship at Huntley Hillclimb on the 18th of September.
This event is the only event run on a public road, in the series. It is a very fast and steep hill with two challenging corners towards the end.
Heath and Christine Campbell suffered engine trouble late in the day at Ringwood Hillclimb last round, but Heath has managed to get the orange beast
fixed and ready to race for this event.
My Beetle has had a wash and is ready to go, i even spoilt it with a front brake caliper teardown and rebuild.
There are two quick Dattos running in our class and the steep hill will suit their high hp motors, so the Beetles will have to drive hard to stay
ahead.
For anyone wanting to come and have a look the event is held at the end of Avondale rd Huntley near Dapto.
Cheers Col

Absolutely perfect weather was laid on by the Wollongong Sporting Car Club on Sunday 18th for the running of round 8 of the NSWHCC at historic Huntley
Hillclimb.
Heath and Christine Campbell entered there VW Beetle along with myself and my Black Beetle.
After the first run of the day times were,
Col 28.37
Heath 29.14
Christine 29.92
Adrian 29.19 (Datto)
Aaron 28.48 (Datto)
Run two saw the times tumble down as our confidence grew.
Col 27.22
Heath 28.73
Adrian 28.15
Aaron 28.50
After Heaths second run the mighty Campbell Beetle struck mechanical trouble and could not continue, leaving myself to fight of the fast Datto
drivers.
With VW pride at stake i pressed on with some fast runs.
Final placings for the day were as follows,
1st Col Mayman 27.03 secs
2nd Aaron Osbourne 27.96 secs
3rd Adrian Peck 28.15 secs
4th Heath Campbell 28.73 secs
5th Christine Campbell 29.92 secs
I was very happy with the result as this was my last event for the year, i managed to miss the class record of 26.95 secs by only 8 hundredths, a big
thankyou to Larry for building another bullet proof engine with zero trouble all year.
The engine will now be pulled out this weekend for more tweaks for next years racing.
A big thankyou from me must go out to all the guys and girl who raced this year i had a fantastic year and only hope next year can be as much fun and
laughs.
I have a couple of vids to post in the next few days.
Cheers Col

Steve
Col why are you not running at King Edward Park ?
Good work Col!
Awesome times for such a heavy car!!
Good one Col. You smashed them. All the best for the coming festive season (not far away with a family) and we will see you next year with the new car.
I think from all reports Cols superbug is just as light as the beetles that are racing currently

well done guys....deffently holdin the flag for vw racing...
Really hope u guys get more exposure from the Vw mag Australia..
No fault of the mag I don't think, it's just that their regular racer/correspondent is a slack tart and has taken a couple of years to build our new car. See you in the New Year.
