Has anyone used Munroe Gt shocks before? I Had them on my old beetle and they felt pretty good, but aiming for track use are these any good?
Running out of cash, what shocks are good for a budget purchase. Ideally Bilsteins and Konis... but something cheaper?

Budget shocks i've heard reasonable things about KYB shocks, but ideally the other brands you've mentrioned are better
If your looking for shocks go with either bilsteins or koni's. http://www.eshocks.com/ - this is where I got my bilsteins for like $300-400 delivered, which is at least half the price
of them here
The bilsteins will lift the car just a bit because they are gas, I have the bilsteins and they work well but next time i'm going to get some custom
shocks which will be hands down better than anything else.

How does a lowered front end go? Are they going to bottom out?

not exy from here.......they also have koni red & yellows....
Bilsteins seem the cheaper option, however they didnt have any aircooled Koni links according to that page.
Would you choose rear sport or touring class?
How do the shocks fare with a lowered front end?
not sure how they will be with a lowered front end, but you shouldn't have it low enough for these shocks not to work anymore,
Does anyone on here run the bilstein on their BJ/double joint bug?
People always give the munny GT a hard name, but the reality is, rather than make your choice on brand name alone, find something from the generic
catalogue with the same mounting design but with a shorter stroke from a heavier car. This will give you the heavier valving you might want.
For example, my friend's Ke20 corolla race car has home made coilovers with monroe GT gas inserts from a MK1 golf. They have the same external
diameter, but are 2 inches shorter, so they fit nicely and have a shorter stroke. The springs are 225 pound rating and the dampers control even a
spring this heavy without any worry at all. The rear uses monroe GT gas, again, but from a commo wagon - you still get shorter stroke and heavier
valving.
They have been in his car for about 1 and a half years with regular road touge use and have done about 6 or 7 track days at lakeside and QR. They have
shown no signs of wearing out and the car is rediculously quick - it scares the shit out of me.
The car does 1.07's at lakeside on second hand semis with a tiny stock 5K engine on twin baby dell's which makes only 75 HP at the wheels. It really
just depends on your budget I guess.
Get the best you can afford! Yes billys and konis are better, but thats not too say you cant have success with cheaper options.
