Do you have to have a cams licence to race on the track at Valla and does the car need a cams log book
Haven't needed 'em in previous years... event's been run under the track's own insurance etc.
Not sure what the setup is likely to be this year ???
someone told me you had to be a member of a club???
ill love to race i just have no idea of how to enter or rules or how to race lol
It's not really racing it's just a lap dash.
The minimum requirements for the event are HAVE FUN!!! Best couple of days of racing if your entering!
Not sure how they are treating it this year but the requirements arn't much. Basically if your car is roadworthy and you have a helmet you can run.
Last year there was a Q7 on the track which i'm sure didn't have an extingusher, secondary bonnet restraint, battery triangle etc...
what about non registered cars whats the requirements for them
lachlan,
I'm not sure for unregistered cars; but I would imagine if it stops, has a seatbelt, has a throttle return, secondary bonnet restraint, and you have
a helmet AND you have fun then I suspect you'd be ok.
These are questions though that should be directed to the organisers

Have emailed organizers and will have info in a couple of weeks.
Will put it up here then
It looks like you will need a cams licence and be a member of a car club.

Log books are not required for cars registered or not registered at this level.
L2S CAMS licence fee has dropped to $95 this year. Its not a document that signifies any level of competency as a driver. It is just a personal
accident insurance policy. Simply a matter of filling in a medical form.
The bonnet catch has been relaxed a bit for road reg cars. " In a speed event, a road registered series production car fitted with an unmodified
original equipment two-stage fastening system shall be exempt from these requirements " If you have an early beetle you will still need to tie it
down to the bumper, but others should be OK.
The fire extinguisher rule is a little vague and open to interpretation. Probably best to talk to the scrutineer. It has just been relaxed in that
circuit race cars no longer need to have one. Why it is still insisted on for speed events baffles me. The same car running around the same race track
in a speed event or race event wither needs or doesnt need one. Dumb. There is quite a bit of rumbling going on trying to get it removed for speed
event cars too. In any case, depending on what your scrutineer deems suitable you could mount the fire extinguisher in the boot, to the chassis, on a
roof rack.
"Each automobile in any competition other than non-speed events or race meetings must be equipped with a fire extinguisher which complies with the
following conditions and is properly fitted at a suitable location.
1.1 Hand-held fire extinguishers:
(i) must remain restrained under an acceleration of 25G;
(ii) must be capable of removal by the driver (or crew, where applicable) without the aid of tools."
i may not be able to get to valla this year,,, i`m about to loose my drivers licence (too many speeding tickets)
so i am about to apply for a SHO (Special Hardship order) to hopefully get at least a day licence
that would mean i can`t drive after work hours during the week & after sat lunch time :-(
unless someone else wants to drive my Quad Cam, fuel injected, alloy V8 powered Kombi ute to the party & back to my cabin :-)
