Kempsey Sporting Car Club will host Round 2 of the Hillclimb series on the 15th of April.
After Bathurst was postponed due to the floods this will be the first round for many of the racers including myself and Glen.
I have received a full list of competitors and Glen and i are the only Beetles racing at this event, hopefully the weather will be warm and sunny.
Here,s a photo from last year, the racing is only half the fun!

Just leaving home now, a few scattered showers forecast for Sunday.

What time will it start and finish?
From Dylan
It's good to have a look around before it starts Dylan while everyone is relaxed. You can get right up close to the cars and meet the lads
So anytime around 9 am till 2.30 ish
You should go, would be good for you
I drove to Tamworth today from Port and passed a nice late model black beetle ( large tail light) on a trailer on the Oxley Hyway heading to Kempsey. Mi9tchell
Okay I'm hopefully going.

Was a great day and i was impressed with Collins bug. I haven't seen it before. Was impressed and was good to see.
From Dylan
Colin is a great guy, and his bug is one very well prepared racecar
It was a good day. Didn't see you Dylan we were mostly hanging around the start and left at lunchtime. I dropped those brackets to your place, hope
you found them on the front porch.
And a BIG thanks to you too Glen, for letting my 2 year old Grandson sit in your race bug and "drive" it. All I'm going to hear for the next few
days is "racing cars, racing cars" over and over.
You really made his day.
Regards,
Matt.

What a great days racing we all had at Cooperabung Hillclimb.
After watching the boys practice on Saturday Glen and i lite the camp fire and settled in with a few cold beers and a great meal of steak and salad
with baked potatoes in foil.
A overnight shower made the track very wet and slippery for us on our first run and i managed to have a spin at the hairpin.
The second run the track dryed a little in patches i i posted the fastest run for our class and was pleased with the new cam and general feel of the
car.
Run 3 and with a drying track i nailed a fast one and put a second between my next competitor Adrian in his datto. Glen was going great, he has had
Stan Pobjoy build him a much more powerfull motor and was running it in reving it too around 5800 as a precaution.
Run 4, the final one, i got wide on the exit of the sweeper and had to have a quick lift and correct the car as the tyre wall was getting awefully
close and went no faster than my 3rd run. However Adrian in the Datto pulled something nowhere and nailed a great time to take the class win.
Final times were,
1st in class Adrian Datto 29.913 sec
2nd Col Beetle 29.920 sec
3rd Aaron Datto 30.942
4th Glen Beetle 31.908
I had no-one to film in runs for me but i have a couple of photo, to post up later.
And thanks to Dylan and Craig for your kind words in regards to my car, Glen and i really enjoy talking to people at the events.
Cheers Col
Colin,
Hope to see you race again in the not to distant future. We got some pretty good footage of the hairpin and the starting line on a couple different
runs and i got a couple pics. Will put the videos together on a disc and send it to you when i get a chance.

Another photo here i,m halfway around the famous cooperabung sweeper flat out in 3rd gear.
Cheers Col
This photo is the fast approach to the hairpin.
Cheers Col
Final photo shows the run to the hairpin, here i,m going through the chicane, a fast daunting part of the track. Here you can make up time as your
exit speed out of the chicane determines your speed to the hairpin. The dark wide line is my brake marker for the hairpin, my speed before i hit the
anchors here is 4th gear about 6000rpm, bloody fast!
Cheers Col
Col,
I am deducting points because your Mayman sticker on the n/s window is not parallel to the window rubber. 9.5 out of 10.

Larry
