WPVW sports sedan competing in NSWHCC
hypo-vw - September 1st, 2012 at 07:34 PM

I have entered the NSW Hillclimb Championships 2012 with the WPVW sports sedan and will contest Round-8 at Huntley Hill , Dapto next Sunday 9th September .

I set a new track record of 25.48secs back in 2000 in the sports sedans 2001-3000 class , which still stands today . 5 weeks ago I raced at a club event and ran 25.09secs , so I am hoping to lower my track record on the 9th .

Any other VW's running at this event

Won,t see me at a state round until 2013.
Best of luck at Huntley, thats one of my favourite tracks.

Cheers Col

thanks Col and Mat , I am really looking forward to having a relaxing day racing , without any major preparation as the WPVW sports sedan had no issues at all at Valla , and not travelling to the ends of the earth and back to race .lol
I will treat it as a test and tune ( give it a thorough floggin ) before WPVW guest driver Simon (Humpty) thrashes it at Warwick in a few weeks time .
I will post results after the event and inform you if I could lower my track record . Wayne

Well good news for Humpty ..... I didn't break or bend the WPVW sports sedan today , so it is ready to be loaded on the car carrier and shipped to Warwick for the VW drags .

However I didn't lower my track record , but not because the sports sedan was slower than 25.48 that I had set back in 2000 ...... it was discovered that I had lowered that record in 2004 with the injected 2842ml engine to 24.45

Today I had a ball , caught up with some mates that I had not seen for many years and to their surprise I still had the blue car and it still goes like sting ......
1st run was steady and very clean 25.79
2nd run was quicker and very clean 24.91
3rd run was quicker and very clean 24.72
4th run I drove my ass off and it just wouldnt go any quicker 24.70 just 0.25 off my track record
I am extremely happy with these results as the engine is just 2450ml with dual weber 48IDF's and the tacho recall on every run was 7900rpms

Awesome news Wayne, I think next time you should turn off the auto-pilot and actually drive yourself, those numbers are great.

(bet Simon's happy)
