As the title says. The final round of the NSW hillclimb championship and the final round of the Tri Club Challange will be run at Newcastle's King
Edward Park on the Sunday & Monday of the October (and September) long weekend.
Sunday 30th Sep sees all the State entrants running this day.
Monday 1st Oct see all the club cars running the tri club series.
I will be debuting 'kermit' at its first state hillclimb. This is ironically the last event this car did in 2008 so it will feel good to have a run
in the bug for the 1st time in a few years after completing its restoration. Glen Torrens is also entered in his yellow bug. Glen & I will be
sticking it to the dattos, especially the new U2L Imp Pro class championship who just happen to drive a datto 1600.
If you go dont hesitate to come and say hi. I will be the one in the very bright frog snot green beetle.
Happy hooning.
Could you pass on my congrats to Adrian for taking out the class championship this year please Nathan.
Also let him know Heath, myself, you and Gt will all be racing next year, so be warned of a tough beetle invasion.
Good luck guys.
Cheers Col
ps My new engine is in the car, exhaust being made next week, sounds ballsy in the shed.

This was the event I offically debuted my newly rebuilt bug. It was the first time I really gave the bug a really hard hit out and managed to pull
some big speed into and through corners and need less to say I was stoked with the results.
I managed to get 16 o/r (out of 73 cars) and break an existing record on my 2nd run up the hill which was very exicting. In the end I just got pipped
by .001 sec for the class win and record. The car ran tops all day. The only issue I had was when the gear shift slipped (due to loosening) and I
found it hard to get 1st & 2nd gears on my 3rd and 4th runs.
Glen had a good event in the wrecker as did Jukka in his Type 3 ute. Both drivers were having a ball and giving their VW's a flogging.
I forgot to add 'Old Tom' in his silver super bug. He carved them up. He is 70 years old and still drives his car like he stole it. If I have half
as much energy as this bloke at his age then I would be a happy man.
After all these years I borrowed Greg's go pro camera to get some incar footage. Greg has managed to down load them and is putting them to USB for
me. I managed to get all 4 runs recorded so in due course I will post them up.
The below run was my very first run in the car ever at this event and the first time I had driven at King Eddie in a few years. I was still running
old tyres which lacked grip. In saying that I gave the tyres and car a flogging on this run to find out how grippy they were as well as try and find
the limits of the car. This run was a little bit of a drif session. Shift light is set out 7500.
Coming into the pinch which is the skinny goat track not long after the start line is @ approx 120kph

awesome
I've never seen an in-car of KEP either; what a track!

looks good......perfect weather.
Now that I had got the first run out of the way and shaken off the cob webs. Now I focused on trying to get set some fast times.
RUN 2:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoyIaap8Ens&feature=youtu.be
This is my 3rd Run. As you can see at the start I am having a little trouble finding 1st gear (due to gear shift loosening & slipping & moving
only about 2mm).
This run was my slowest 1st split by a fair bit in comparision to my fastest (my fastest 1st split time was the 2nd run). The 1st split time is at the
end of the chicane. I couldnt get it off the line and when I grabbed 2nd it lit up the rear tyres. in saying that I came in the pinch and finishing
line dame quick.

Super big thumbs up Nathan, top stuff.
Your car sounds sweet and very well tuned. Thanks for the incar footage also.
Next year will be so good.
cheers Col
yep, next year will be very interesting
Good work Nathan cheers Rudi
Very good!
I loved watching the KEP racing when I lived in Newie for a couple of years.
Here are the results

Its interesting to see the record Nathan broke wasn't for the Improved Production Class.
Heath Campbells Improved Production class record is 39.72..........Nathan's fastest time was a 42.66.
Nathan will just have to find another 3 secs to be competive in the Imp Production Class now !
At no time did I ever say I was running imp pro for this event nor did I advertise it. In fact it was advertised on the net nearly 2 weeks ago what class I running but I just guessed you would have looked that too just like you were just as keen to look up the results. I couldnt run imp pro because I was not registered. Thats the rules. As far as making up 3 seconds. I am going to have fun trying driving against a bunch I nice blokes (and girls).

You just made a false assumption but I forgive you for that.Your only human. I am happy to just be running a car and racing again after 4 years. Hopefully I will see you at Bathurst.

There is a fair amount of time in it around that track with new rubber. You can see from the video the car just fries the tyres off the start and most corners. I also think I will have to upsize the rears from 195 to 205 now.
