Not.
Where's that calendar? Need to check on the date lol
Hacked by Aaron???
Cool now you be able to get into the 9s
LOL
April fools!!!!!
nice one dave,
got me a little excited for a moment.
you would have to throw away all your knowledge and start again.
stick with the volksies man.
Hiya Dave, I am running a 13b turbo will be running 300+ hp by the end of next week, will Sides gearbox he is selling hold up to this power? If not
can you build a box strong enough or point me in the right direction. I need it to be streetable but cop a hiding, want to be able to drag off
lights, smoke up when wanted, and do 100/110 at a reasonable rev range.
Thanks
Sides box is a big improvement over what you have, and qould handle the torque OK,
but i think for what you want to do, a bus box or Mendeola would be a better base.
I use a bus box and only have 250 to 260 wheel and even that requires maintenance every 25 to 40 runs,
so you may want to save up for a Mendeola.
For burnouts, you will want to avoid any superdiff (poor lubrication) and spring for a decent TBD like a quaife, peloquin or GT LSD
Hiya Dave,
By burnouts I probably should have given a bit more detail, I dont want to put it on the pad or anything, just like pulling away from lights and
smoking up the tyres as I pull away first and second, it would not be a on the spot burnout or continuous burnout. The bus box from Rancho transaxle
they reckon will handle 300hp, works out to be 6k delivered, would this be a wise choice, or is there something that can be built stronger for around
the same or less sort of money. Do you build the boxes or do you have someone you get your gearbox built by. Will sides handle the torque of a
rotary turbo, will it handle the power? The gearing, is it going to be any good as a daily driver. Running 195/55R15 tyres will be going to
205/40R17 roughly the same O.Diameter. Could you recommend anyone that does boxes local/ex east if you dont build your boxes. Im in perth btw.
Maintenance on the gearbox, is that oil changes, or do you have to replace gears or anything. Thanks heaps for your help.
13b....
Make yourself a coffee and do some light reading.....

Thats alot of reading, exactly what am i looking for in the 41 pages.
Unfortunately Sides' gearbox will not be up to what you have planned.
Both the gearing and strength are not suited to your plans.
It is a lot better than what you have, but type 1 crown wheel and pinions are short lived above 200 wheel power.
The bus box will work, but with the driving you describe, wont last long.
Even with a LSD or TBD (street) or spool(not for street),you will do damage due to the rpm and gear size.
That driving style is exactly what destroys VW gearboxes,
except you have the added torture of 3 x the RPM of what the VW trans was designed for.
****Do your self a favour and get the Mendeola to suit your power level****,
remembering that the Rancho quoted power level ability, are at the flywheel, and yours are Wheel.
I build all my own boxes, and some for others, which is my primary line of business.
I could easily build you a bus box, but would cost more than what Rancho charge,
because I have more attention to detail.
This would likely be the same cost as what Rancho can supply you a mendeola.
Hiya Dave,
Thanks for that, They assure me the bus box being the pro drag bus box with 930 axles will handle this. The power figure is at the wheels I am
quoting as it was at 250hp atw on dyno I am unsure of torque figures just want to be sure I dont blow 6k and box still dies, highflowing turbo and
larger injectors going in as we speak, do you mean the power rating for the gearbox is at the flywheel. Should I try the Rancho Bus box or do you
recommend going straight for Mendeola.
