I finally took the 52 bug to the track, well air strip for our first race in it. We turned the boost down to 12ish, didn't change any tuning. Added
some race fuel & raced old school, didn't use stage brake etc. No burn out. Funny American car with the stick shift on the wrong side ran a 8.825sec, 1.745 60FT, reaction .387.
the VW drove very good, I only hit the 6300rpm shift light in first , didn't notice until we watch the video. felt heaps good.

Cool!!!! Now that youve got used to left hand drive make sure you wind the boost back up for sydney
Ooops
Oops is right.... Dang that window winder....
Betcha that went down well at the country drags?,
Great first effort Rose.
I would do the same with LHD!
Probably worth swapping the column and pedals to the other side, if you want to race two cars.
Or better still, get that damn Ian to drive one!
Mike Cummings say, Put your big girl panties on and drive that bug like it should be driven. You are driving it like you are scared it might break.
It will easily do 6's in the 1/8th and 10's in the 1/4.
and I will be doing this in no time at all
.
Ian would go sloooowwer
Rose I think you did a great job driving it !!!!! Definately better than I would have driven a RHD car . Mike McCarthy
nice sounding engine

I'm so jealous of you Rose.... Don't let Ian near that drivers seat.... Get out there and mash that pedal!
Well done Rose....That's a top picture too

Awesome beetle..Good luck with your new beastie..Love it!!.
very, very cool bug awesome work bringing it over here guys.
I had a chuckle when you reached for the shifter with your left hand !!
Love the car Rose.......and Ian.
It does take a bit of getting used to LHD, normal driving easy but racing you go back to your reflexes. I don't have window winders to worry about at least!!

WSID Sunday Street Meet 25th Aug 13
52 Split Bug 1st test run on the 1/4 mile. Temp got to 26* today it was great .
well I took the beast out today the 52 split to have a go and try to get use to the left hand drive my arms a bit short and I'm short bit hard to
reach over to third gear did a 13.095 sec pass on the 1/4 at 185.33K/h Sydney. It likes eating fan belts as well it shredded 2 and flew one of and
flipped it twice. Had 6 runs goes good it is fun when you are able to reach the throttle and 3rd gear correctly.
times
14.932 146.o8 Ks
15.562 144.61Ks
14.339 147.24Ks
13.183 168.28Ks
13.095 185.32Ks
13.221 182.51Ks
the times improved once I added a pillow so that I could push the gas pedal a bit harder.
great day out at the Sydney dragway
Slightly used fan belts
big turn out, I was in lane 3
.
Hi Ian and Rose,
glad you had a great day out. I was thinking of going as there was a bunch of Subaru guys going and I thought about putting my other flat four down
the track, but did the family thing instead.
Would look funny with the pillow stuffed behind you, I think this is something Ian can work on
slightly used fan belts
Use a straight stick or rule to make sure the pulleys are aligned.
Nice speed!
