trying again to post this
This is Ron Harris's bug around 1987 in Western Australia
It set the SS/C record at think at 12.02 at 117mph
It was a full steel body , 2 liter + motor with 48 webers. on 6 inch slicks
Very cool, but where is it now??
I reckon humpty would know exactly where it is!
It has been in a shipping container for over 7 years or more
There is a supercharged motor built for it before the car was stored which 95% complete, it running but needs a few more refinements done before
racing.
It did run a blower before 1987 but it dropped a rod and cut the motor in half just about, so he went back to carbies on the new motor
As in Harris Engines?
Same bloke isn't it?
Yep
Cool car...you seem to know it very well turboboy
Yep, thats the one... Ron did bring it to one of my NoH2O shows many years ago, with the supercharged engine in it and all.... Fired it up too!.... The sound is made was mad!.... Both Richard (turboboy) and I have been on Ron's case to get it racing again, but he's not interested... Maybe when we get our cars finished he might find the love once more.... We can only hope.
Did a bit of pit crewing for him back in the days

Another pic turned up today Rich....
John Harney posted it up on FB this eve....
Cool
If notice there is no megaphone, it did a wheel stand and pulled it off.
Well half off, we tried to pulled it off on the start line, it was hanging on by a spring , I recall, I think, dam old age LOL. but couldn't get it
off.
But if you look real close you can see the end of the mega pointing towards the camera just below the bottom engine lid locking pin.
there where on wheelie bar's on it back then.
That's cool, so long ago...spewing he is no longer keen to get back into it...
that looks like Henry Yellow ???
I remember going to Ravenswood back in the middle eighties and later and seeing this, and I remember gonzo,(I think that is what they called him) he had a beach buggy that ran 15's, that was at Kwinana though. Good memories.
Gonzo and that bloody yellow buggy!
HAHAHA! We had a few races back then, he had a 1835 in it, pretty mild but good torque, and damn that car would LEAP out of the hole! I think my
closest race ever was against Gonzo, neither of us knew who'd won until we got the time cards..........0.002secs.
AKA Simon Travaglini, races the black Falcon Doorslammer. I last spoke to him last Westerns, he still had his buggy then.
Yep, good fun!
Simon is doing awesome things with his Falcon these days.... Didn't know he ran a buggy though.
The yellow buggy was Peter Cook's , it did have Ron motor in it at one time.
Peter was another VW nut back in the old days
we have to get these Perth bugs out for a track day, motorplex on a Wednesday or the weekend would be fine.
No chance of that happening with Ron, but Turboboy and myself will be back at the track ASAP!
