I talked to Ron Lummis today and told him how well my clutch has held up and about the performance increase I had with it . I also sent him pictures
of the componants inside and how well they have held up also. Ron gratiously gave me permission to post them so my first thought was to show my
friends here and to hope some of the guys who have this setup to give me their feedback also. The setup I went with was the double disc because I run
a 2387 turbo , makes 366 rwhp . I tore the clutch down for a checkver before I was going to install it into my new "STREET " car. I expected alot of
scored and damaged parts, here is what I found instead,
This is the way I recieved it new,
This is a shot of the flywheel after 60 passes, notice the machine marks from the surface grinder still there,
this is the clutch disc nearest the flywheel , again look at the machine marks on the disc itself,
the other side of the disc facing the floater,
the floater on the flywheel side,
The floater on the clutch cover side,
the outer clutch disc , floater side,
the other side of the disc,
and the final plate,
I hope some of you find it interesting how well it has held up, you knw I babied it taking off ,LOL !!!!! Mike McCarthy
This is a picture of the clutch cover, you can see the counter weights protruding from the side,
Comparing the REV6 disc laying on a 200 mm Kennedy PPlate for OD
That is awesome Mike!
If you get a chance, can you weigh one of your clutch discs?
It would be interesting to compare it with a conventional 3 or 4 puck disc.
Thanks,
DB.
Wow, thanks for sharing Mike. Comdition is fantastic. How many passes did you put on it?
I will do it tomorrow Dave, I have 50-60 passes , a whole season of racingplus test and tunes and I still have my transmission with no cracks in the
gears. Mike McCarthy
a picture comparing my Tilton double disc to the REV6 disc,
Hey Dave , I am sorry I didn't get this on earlier today but I was running errands . First I measured the OD of both setups, stock was 7.875 inches , REV6 was 6.125 , so 1.750 differance. I am not an engineer so I have no idea how much differance in rotating mass it will be . If someone is a mathamatical genius do me a favor and do all these computations. The two REV6 discs are differant thicknesses , one is 700 grams the other is 800. I measured my Tilton discs ( 2) and they are 500 grams each. I measured a stock disc with springs and it weighed 900 grams. The last disc was a 3 puck and it weighed 700 . I wish I still had the Kennedy double discs , they were REAL heavy . I hope this answers your question Dave. I can tell you from experiance this clutch setup feels like a stock pressure plate and shifting is NOT a problem . Mike McCarthy
its true testament to quality parts, this must be the set up that has you pointing skywards.....now stop playing with this stuff, you are retired remember?
I retired from Pro Outlaw Series and I will not be following a points series but I still like getting a woodie driving a fast car for fun, LOL My best friend and brother from another mother John Toomey and I are both building " street " cars to cruise around in and occaisionally race . Mike McCarthy
I get wood driving my 1776, in your weapon I would shit myself.
In all seriousness, I can't believe how well the kit has held up after so many runs.
There are a few local cars running the set up I assume will chime in with their experience and feedback.
