As the word is now out I had better tell everyone what the go is.
Last year at Warwick I ran the red bug and had a blast. It ran a 7.9@85mph. It was on 9 pound boost. Any more and the clutch let loose at 5000 in 2nd
gear.
Since then we have fixed the clutch issue (KEP2 needed shimming to get the fingers level) and now it hooks up really well. We added the CB magnaspark
efi kit and started to wind up the boost to 14 pound.
I put it on the dyno a few weeks ago and the first run was getting 14 pound at 5k and 240hp at the wheels and still climbing so we backed it off.
2nd run and we wound down the boost and it made 240@7000. Big smiles.....
We then decided to make some changes to the motor to make it more turbo friendly.
The original build was not down with a turbo in mind but still we said what the hey lets put one on....
So we are shimming to take the compression from high 8's to low 8's as well as putting on a methanol/water injection kit.
All the while I am thinking to myself that this car is getting really fast for a full street car that gets driven daily. (Mark drives it to and from
work) there is no cage or harnesses.
So I had a choice to make. Either take my street car to the next level or buy a pre-done race car.
I started looking here in aus but not much for sale but there were a few in the US.
My first line of thinking was to get a rail but the logistics were getting too difficult with where we live so I decided that a sedan was for me.
That is when I found Doug's aka dougzilla's car. It was an opportunity to get into a proven car so I took it. After a bunch of phone calls and
emails it was decided and off we go.....
It will take me a while to get the most out of the car. It is a pretty big step up for me so I will be working my way up to the full potential.

The new
I'll upload more later.
Great read and pics cheers.
What size cc is your 240hp currently? Great job
2275 but I am dropping compression so hp will go down. Hopefully around 200
USA cars are great , some ones done all the hard yards building and racing and the new owners just have to work their way up to the fast times ahead,
we are more then happy with or recent USA buy. cheap and easy to ship to Oz,
Looking forward to checking your new buy out at warwick
Andrew

it aint on mine refresh your screen
Congrats Andrew......its great to see all these quick US cars making there way to Oz
Its got a centre drive pos right? How will that go down with ANDRA?
Good score by the way Andrew.
The only rule for seating is the SS section is that it has to have a drivers seat (der)
In the general rules it states "all seats must be positioned to provide the driver with adequate forward vision"
I also showed the photos to an ANDRA technical guy at the winter nationals and he couldn't see anything that would be an issue.
But thanks for the concern....
Yes back in the days I began racing, Super Sedan Class required the seat to be offset,
but a recent look in the rule book shows that that rule no longer exists.
(Gone to the bin with the 'no welded diffs' rule)
If it did, there would be no reason you couldn't off set the seat 5mm,
since back then it said "no centre seating" but there was no tolerance listed, haha.
Your only challenge Andrew will be to master the left window winder. (
Rose)
Dave I think I might have more than just a window winder as a challenge........

You'll be fine.
our friend adam also has a 10sec USA beetle will be good to see how adam goes with the lefty at sydney
that will make about 7 leftys now.
I haven't found the LHD gearshift to be an issue on mine, but going to step on the brake pedal to find it doesn't have one can be a bit unnerving
Congrats on the buy anyway, looks like a great proven setup.
cheers everyone.... more pics

Reckon it will be back in time for warwick?
I hope so. It will depend on the sea freight duration.
The importer says 4-6 weeks from pick up. Hopefully the car will be ready for pick up mid July.
Doug is getting some work done at the moment and I am getting some parts delivered to Doug over the next couple of weeks.
So hopefully it will be here in early September. Then through September get the car inspected and a couple test and tunes done.
Even if I can't race the car I will try to take the car if its here.
Looking forward to seeing you and the car at Willowbank and of course Warwick if it pans out.
You'll have a ball with it Andrew.
MurphZilla??
looking forward to seeing all these LHD cars at Sydney and Warwick....
Murphzilla! LOL! I like it
Doug, welcome to Aussieveedubbers.......
Everyone meet Doug AKA Dougzilla!
