RodPenrose - July 25th, 2013 at 09:12 AM

I am after a new home for my drag buggy . Owen is a bit busy with his uni degree and will no longer be able to spare the time necessary to run the car . Remember you don't have to be a part of a team to go racing , you just need to have fun . I will assist in every way I can to keep this on the track . Please forward me your interest in this free deal , ROD.

I was only at your workshop yesterday Brad and you started up your Beetle and the exhaust/fuel had my eyes watering, but it smelt great and sounded even better. You aren't saying you want to retire the Beetle now and drive something else, are you  :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

This is a very generous offer Rod, I hope it ends up in good hands and I wish I had the space.

HappyDaze - July 25th, 2013 at 03:13 PM

Are you OK Rod? Not hurt?.......I assume you got knocked over in the rush?

Offers like that don't happen every day. :tu:

SuperOwen - July 25th, 2013 at 03:40 PM

It's a really fun car to drive and goes nice and straight as well. I'd love to keep running it but I've got enough on my plate. If any interested parties need a trailer for it Ill probably be selling mine. Another bonus is it's tiny so doesn't take up much garage space. Also I'm 6'3 tall and just fit but anyone under that will be fine. Feel free to come over for a trial fitting lol

josh has spoke to Rod ,he is keen on the idea, how much for the trailer???

SuperOwen - July 25th, 2013 at 04:23 PM

$3000ono. Twin axle, electric brakes and controller and only weighs 400kg. The guy who built it made it for a Subaru impreza so fits anything up to that size. Nsw rego untill April next year as well

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - July 25th, 2013 at 09:10 PM

Could it have a home north of the border? Is the offer still available?

shokwave2 - July 26th, 2013 at 04:58 PM

Anyone know of a cheap/free trailer? Rod's been putting ideas in my head.

vintage - July 26th, 2013 at 05:04 PM

You might need a new clutch to tow the trailer though

G'day Rodney,
Thanks for your time today,

Cheers Dean

Pizza delivery buggy!

RodPenrose - July 28th, 2013 at 11:59 AM

Thanks to all that have inquired about the buggy . I have had some good interest and now here are the finer details that I need to know about the potential new owners ;
Firstly , you will need a garage to keep it in , preferably a secure garage .
You will need a trailer to transport the buggy to and from the track .
You will obviously need a tow car .
Not necessary , but a little mechanical knowledge would help if you are at the track without me and you sustain a problem .
A desire to go racing , be it new or previous drag racing experience .
Hopefully a couple of good mates that want to go to the track to help you out .
You will also need to purchase an ANDRA super street licence that is about $ 140 per year . I would like to see the buggy raced at all of the VW events at least and join in the fun of a full weekend away . The buggy has a current log book and will be ready to race. The engine is out for a freshen up and is almost ready to be reinstalled and tuned . Craig and Owen have both run 12.1 seconds at 107 mph and now with a little extra hp it may go 11.8 seconds . The buggy weighs in @ about 625 kg's and is currently set up for a driver around 187cm and 85-90 kg's . Please let me know if you can complete all of these conditions and I will let the new owners know real soon , thanks ROD.

Hi Rod,

this is a very generous offer of yours and there will be some lucky guys out there that are going to get into drag racing very, very cheaply :yes::yes::yes::yes:

If you are thinking about promoting your business and any of your EFI/Turbo stuff and want a representative, say maybe someone with a bright orange Beetle, I think I know someone. And NO, it's not Birchall :lol::lol::lol::lol:

All the best with your search, it shows how keen you are to keep the VW appearances up. I'm sure there will be lots lining up out there to try and take up your offer. Although finding someone that is already 187cm may reduce your options

rose - July 28th, 2013 at 01:30 PM

Josh fits most of those requirements
He only weight about 50 KG ringing wet
Josh best times on the 1/8 8.2
He loves to work on VW, crazy Kid

There are ways around that...

http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1290&dat=19940713&id=mlRUAAAAIB...

But on a more serious note that's my height and I just fit with some modification (to the car that is). Anyone shorter is fine.

LIFE IN THE LOW LANE - July 28th, 2013 at 10:51 PM

I'm 187cm but 97kgs!! Extra weight to keep the front down!

fish26 - July 29th, 2013 at 07:11 PM

Hi Rod,

If I tick all the boxes above and the Buggy is based in Sydney would you consider sending it up?

rocker Ben

HappyDaze - July 29th, 2013 at 07:16 PM

Have I got this wrong?.....are you asking Rod to 'deliver' the car, as part of the deal??????

fish26 - July 29th, 2013 at 10:53 PM

yeah, free delivery with a free race car would be great......

Craig Torrens - July 29th, 2013 at 11:00 PM

And maybe some pit girls to go with it !:lol:

fish26 - July 29th, 2013 at 11:37 PM

now you talking, make a nice wallpaper for the garage computer :starhit:

No Dunes - July 30th, 2013 at 09:00 PM

Hi Rod , I tick all the boxes for sure
I have just finished my 9x 7 shed and have a car hoist on the way
I also have a history in offroad racing go cart racing and have a Family full
of vw freaks .
I have a Meyers Manx on the road at the moment ( This is the love of my life ) and a spare manx on the shelf up at the old mans shed
that I was planning on turning into a drag car.
Due to a divorce these are the only things I have left from 20 years of working
But hey it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it
It would be a dream come true and an honour to keep the buggy racing
I will ring you tomorrow
Cheers Shane 0410639269

RodPenrose - August 12th, 2013 at 09:11 AM

Well almost , I have a new home for the buggy so I would like to thank all of the people that expressed some interest . I will be looking forward to seeing the new owners run it @ Warwick this year and hopefully having a ball . They should take delivery this weekend if I can get the new engine dyno'd in time , ROD.

No Dunes - August 12th, 2013 at 05:47 PM

Well done Guys , Have a ball but dont kill it
If you need a driver I will certainly jump in at a moments notice.
