Hey guys,
In a bit of a dilemma with my holley for my draw through 2165 drag motor...
The holley I have is a 390 cfm vac secondaries, it needs a kit put through it, a tidy up and for someone to show us how the hell the damn thing works!
I can get it kitted for about $150 but the guy who will do it swears it needs a boost referenced power valve... which form what I read really isn't
the case. this carb has run with this turbo setup before and came off a running motor probably 5 years ago. I have spoken to a carby guy and told him
what im using it for, in his opinion it will work but its probably a little small to make maximum power...
My other option is, for about $300 I can get a brand new 600cfm aluminium body light weight job, which granted probably will need re jetting... I have
a full main jet kit anyway.
This will come new, clean, shiney in a box with instructions id imagine!
So what do you do?? beacause I don't know!
do I stick with the setup that has supposedly all ben run together before or just get the new out of the box carb and re jet to suit???
cheers in advance
Mick.

OUR 750 has no boost ref or a power valve.
the 500 has a boost ref and a 1 screw to tune , that is so easy to adjust
we have the TP500.

So I've been offered a brand new 600cfm vac advance holley for $200...
One of these:

That's really cheap.
What now? Run the old one or buy the new one? The cost isn't really a factor anymore seen as there is no real difference...
that's a street Holley with a choke , you need a race Holley
something like this

Oh, id love one of them.... But they're nearly $700 us plus shipping. I'm looking at $200 au inc shipping.
Wayne Penrose has a few race carburettors laying around give him a pm or call or FB him
Yeah, I saw them at Warwick. I can't remember what he wanted for them...
Put a kit through what you have yourself and give it a run, for $30 you'll be out there running faster than ever and it isn't hard to go bigger
later. What sort of HP will your turbo support?
Just take the choke off, instant "race" carb
I don't know, its a rajay unit with t04 inlet and t04 exhaust. I just realised I have the wrong kit for the 390... The kit I have came with no vac secondary diaphragm.
My advice is to become familiar with the carb you choose.
you WILL need to work on your carb at some point, so best be familiar with the one you have.

Also you're probably going to have to fiddle with whichever setup you choose, so don't let that be a factor in deciding. "instructions" with the new carb probably just tell you where the 4 manifold bolts are.
Just got the new 600 cfm. Thought it would be better suited. Cheers guys.
our vw was running to rich AT wARWICK and the old boost retard was taking way to much timing out.
so we got one of these to see what the mixture realy runs at LoL And
a box of jets

That things cool Ian! I like the fail safe setting! Very handy on a boosted motor!
