Hi All,
VW Warwick is almost upon us. The weekend that kick started VW drag racing in Australia will be held on October 4-5th. Registrations are now open at
http://www.vwma.net.au
This is the 9th year for the Warwick weekend, quite a journey when you consider how it all quietly started back in 2006. An idea hatched by VWMA and
willingly supported by performance orientated businesses and racers proved that the passion for VW drag racing was as strong as ever.
The programme remains the same this year with the addition of a Herbie movie night on the Friday evening and the VW Engine Pull competition (details
on the programme page on the website). Morgan Smith, Ben Robinson and Jason Frost have already nominated themselves as a team, and I am looking for at
least four other teams to join the fun.
More updates each week will happen via email, facebook
( both http://www.facebook.com/vwmagazine and http://www.facebook.com/VwDragRacingAustralia ) and AVD.
See you on the track
yep will be there for number 9
Craig, when you say "See you on the track"......you don't mean Stan, do you ?
I want to come but I've been trying to organise getting the weekend off for months now, still no word

Apparently there must be other activities on at Warwick on the same weekend. The motel I've stayed at for the last 8 odd years called me this week to see if I needed a room as he was almost booked out!! Book now or you May just miss out!!

Hi All,
Last year Shane Sollitt from Hyperformance Videos put together a fantastic Video package of the weekend with driver times, names, highlights, etc (if
you missed a copy phone Shane on 0419 734 820). Shane will be back this year, so don't miss the opportunity to order a great piece of video
memorabilia.
Ausmotophoto will also be there taking photographs on Sunday. There will be 4 photographers catching all the action, so there's a good chance your
best side will be featured (even Dave Stoker's)!
Camping is open on the Friday through to Monday, and hot showers will be on site for the three nights. Warwick raceway have now put shade sails over
the main stadium and refurbished the wooden seating, so the racing is even more enjoyable to watch during the middle of the day. The VWDCQ will also
have their two large marquees on the grass hill, and the main white marquee will be open to the public on both days for extra seating.
The VW engine pull still only has one team entered, so the Morgan/Robinson/Frost outfit might be taking home the cash and prizes by default! We can't
let that happen now...
Ticketing and driver's packs can be collected on Friday at the track and during the evening. The Herbie Movie night will be playing in the main
marquee on Friday evening. Tappet racing is on Saturday evening after the meal, and Robin's Catering will again serve up their tremendous feast!
See you on the track.
Cheers

Hi All,
Mick Motors is the major sponsor of VW Warwick 2014. Mick Motors has been with the series since its inception, and their continued support of the
Warwick round has guaranteed the annual event for VW drag racers and spectators alike.
VW Warwick is also supported by XForce, Westside Mufflers, Das Resto Parts, WPVW, Hyper Race Fuels, ACE 40, Rod Penrose Racing, Leon's Motors, Coogee
Race Fuels, Beach Buggy Australia and VVDS. Darren Hobson from Letter Art Signs & Graphics supplies the much sort after Race Plates for the Top
Qualifiers, and Volkswagen Genuine Parts has been fitting out each entrant with a range of VW merchandise for each round.
These businesses are instrumental in keeping the sport of VW Drag Racing healthy and alive in Australia, and VWMA could not possibly organise these
events without their support. It is because of their valued contribution to each round that the Oz drag racing scene has flourished, and new cars and
drivers join the growing ranks each year.
Sadly, this year we lost Mark Forno (or Captain to his friends), taken too early by an aggressive cancer. Mark was a regular at each Warwick round,
even visiting the Sydney round in 2012 before his health prevented him from travelling. Although Mark never raced a VW, his heart and passion was very
much a part of the sport. Mark actually had his drag racing roots in a Mazda RX7, but never managed to finish his car before he passed away. The drag
car has now been finished by his close friends, and with all going well, I have extended an invite for the boys to run the RX at Warwick. This will be
a very special moment for Mark's family and friends, and I for one hope to see the car do many passes over the two days.
Please remember to register earlier than later for Warwick this year. Cut off is Friday September 26th.
Cheers
