Hi All,
I hope all is well in the VW drag racing world.
VW Warwick will be held October 3rd-4th 2015 at the Warwick Dragway. This is the 10th VW Warwick, a milestone for VW drag racing in this country. When
I first started Warwick back in 2006 I didn't know what the response would be. From a small field of 40 cars, it wasn't long before word spread that
there was an event that catered just for VW racers and their families. The sport and the series took off.
With this said, I aim to use the 10th anniversary running of VW Warwick as both a litmus test and an opportunity to assess where the event, and indeed
any additional rounds for a series in 2016 and beyond should head. I would like to encourage every VW drag racer in this country to race at Warwick
this year as a show of force. From records over the past 10 years, it's possible to have approximately 150 VW racers compete at Warwick if everyone
manages to rock up. This would be sensational and quite a spectacle if we managed to pull it off.
Entries will open on August 1st on the VWMA website - http://www.vwma.net.au - but the
programme and early details are already up on the site. The Motorkhana is still hanging in the winds while I try to secure a CAMS official, but again
why not throw a set of old tyres on your strip car and try your hand at running over witches hats? I'd also like to see the dinner on Saturday night
full to overflowing and the Tappet Racing brimming with entrants. No other VW motorsport event in the country offers so much VW activity at the one
venue.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this weekend. Despite the enormous effort to organise the weekend each year, I would like to
see Warwick and the series continue for years to come. See you on the track.
Cheers

I received word today that there are no less than 10 Mk1 Golfs lined up to go drag racing at Warwick, plus a few late model VAG cars. The water-cooled class is booming!
Hi All,
Registrations are now open for the 10th Anniversary of VW Warwick. I hope to see you all there on the track for this great weekend of VW racing and
activities.
Mick Motors is the major sponsor again for 2015, and their enthusiasm for the event keeps the VW drag racing programme in this country alive and well.
Supporting Mick Motors and the weekend are Rod Penrose Racing, Coogee Methanol, XForce, Westside Mufflers, Vintage VeeDub Supplies, Beach Buggy
Australia, and Wayne Penrose Volkswagen.
Joining the growing list of sponsors for this year is Browns Plains Mechanical. Chris McGaughey, the owner of BPM, is both a VW enthusiast (early MK1
and B1 water-cooled models) and an avid drag racer. BPM will be supporting the Watercooled Class, and have already invited at least 10 MK1 Golfs to
participate.
One change to the programme will be the Motorkhana. The type and number of officials required by CAMS to run a grass event has been difficult to
muster, so the Bug Push will take centre stage. I envisage this to be more of a club competition. I know the VWDCQ here in Qld will field a team of 4,
so I'm calling for a team from the Gold Coast Club, Bad Little Buggers, Club VW in Sydney and the Victorian VW club to do the same. The Bug(s) for
the push will be supplied, you just need the team. Teams not associated with a club are also invited.
See you on the track.

Hi All,
Things are shaping up nicely for the 10th Anniversary of the VW Warwick drags.
The Queensland television show, The Great South East, will be covering the event, starting with a pre-promotional segment featuring a nice little
gathering of drag and street VWs this month, which will then air in September before the weekend. This is a great opportunity to promote our hobby and
the VW scene in general, and even more reason why the VW drag racing community should show a force in numbers on October 3rd-4th. To name but a few,
Rod Richardson has agreed to bring out the Camel Beetle for the pre-promotional segment , along with Aaron Roberts and his insane rotary Bay Window
Kombi, Scott Alder will be there with Filmore and the Hanson clan with all their beasts. Other VW owners are invited to attend, and should email me
before Friday August 21st to register their interest. It should be fun.
Congratulations to Chelsea Mills for grabbing the prized #1 registration for VW Warwick 2015. She pipped Steve Carter by putting her paperwork through
just before midnight on the evening regos opened. In the goodies bag this year for drivers will be limited edition 10th anniversary VW Warwick posters
featuring cars that have set milestones and won various categories. Dinner guests will also receive a poster and can have their poster signed by past
VW Warwick champions who will be special quests during the Saturday evening dinner. During the dinner each driver will be making a short speech about
their involvement in the VW drag racing scene, and in the background on display will be the restored Peter Keegan Camel drag Beetle. And of course the
Tappet cover racing will happen after the meal.
On the track, the popular air-cooled class will now be divided into Top VW Shootout, ET1 and ET2. This will aid in grouping cars better according to
times and match competitors with cars of similar performance. There will also be drag cars from Warwick past making an appearance after a few years
absence, which will be nice to see back on the track. It's all pointing towards an exciting weekend of racing and off-track entertainment. More news
to come.
See you on the track.
Cheers

Hi All,
Just a quick reminder that entries close this Friday 27th September for VW Warwick 2015. Late entries may be taken, but this will incur a $30 late fee
payable to the Warwick Dragway. The reason for a cut-off date is to allow officials and myself to have all the data entered into the track computer so
that scrutineering and competition can flow better. It makes everyone's job easier and provides less hassle (can't guarantee no hassle) over the
race weekend.
A reminder too about the Sunday 4 Round Robin competition. The staging lanes will be numbered according to your class, and you must wait before each
round for a lane marshall to pair you off. Unless otherwise directed, you can not race the same person twice. The only exception to this is if the
class has less than 6 competitors. If you notice you may have been paired wrong (and that's not too difficult to see), please inform the track
marshall.
The Bug Push is definitely on, and I have two teams thus far. Don't miss the opportunity for a laugh. The new Volkswagen dealership in Warwick will
also be joining us for the Saturday morning display in Leslie Park. Please have a chat to Mick Dwan about the new Volkswagen range of cars.
For all other programme and racing information please visit the VW Magazine Australia website.
See you on the track.

further to Craig's advise re staging lanes, if you stage and you do not agree with your dial in time, which should again be shown this year at the starting line then DO NOT race and then protest cause you broke out........
just looked at the weather forecast, looks good
