I dont think rod has any plans of going over there in the near future. Ill try and confirm for you.

If it hapens lets make a cruize out of it meet in Freo and convoy it to the plex. Would be great to have a long line of Veedubs.

Humpty start an online petition on noh2o web site and tell eveyone about it may be another push in the right direction.

April 23 - Quit Motorplex, Perth

Rod is seriously considering coming to Perth for this event. He is going to send me (via a mutual friend) some info about his car, and will be looking for local sponsors. He said that he may also need some pit support if anybody (I'll put my hand up!!!) is interested in getting involved.

That's it for now, will keep you updated as I find out more.

I can lend a hand although Ive never done it before.

Knowing Rod the probably would make the trip. He can't help showing off his car, as would I.

I have only read about his car, and would really like to see it and experience the thrill of being there.
I would also like to help him on race day, as I have been involved in drag racing for more than 10 years in South Africa, and I am a experienced mechanic by trade.

Sorry guys....Ron contacted me the other day to say he is not going to make it this year...He has very important family wedding to go to on that weekend!

He did say that the new body (NB style) for his new car will be arriving soon and will be mounted on a front engine rear wheel drive chassis! Think of the old KAWELL squareback from the early 90's!!! This car will be running a similar engine as the previous car, but with a whole new drive line and intake set-up....Try twin turbos, intercooler and a whole host of new tricks!!!

I can't wait!

It would be good if we could start our own VW drag scene over here in Perth. Has anyone got a car that's up to the task over here? Would be good to see some of the V8's and Ricers to be embarrassed.

Yes we have a couple of fast street cars here, that make the drags a few times a year (mine and my brothers!), there are also some fast streeters that I have never seen at the drags. There is one drag bug here in Perth, that hasn't run in ages and there is a new being built right now...this one has a dyno'd 325kw turbocharged TIV engine...No car just yet as such, as the owner has just moved to Perth, but he's looking at my buggy as a possible chassis for it!

let me finish my house and next year (cossed fingers) I should have a street car ready. Still looking for a desent starting point but have limited funds until the house is finished.

Where abouts Nige - I built in Bertram 2 1/2 years ago - the plex is only 5 mins down thomas road from me

On most nights you can hear anything louder than a doorslammer... ie funny cars, top fuellers and Jet cars. And the Nitro harleys you can hear too.

Not that close but closer than I am know. Im building in Hamond Park its across the freeway from Atwell. I live in Bassendean at the moment it a pain as my office is in Applecross and I so far away from family its hard to get baby sitters.
My sister lives in Atwell and her hubby is a real rev head to, we can talk shit all day in the garage over a carton. Hopping to rope in his help on the new project when it happens.

Aircooled or other? I know where there is a brand spanking 82mm stroker going cheap! Just needs an engine to wrap around it!!!
