Issue#5
VWMA Editor - December 21st, 2004 at 04:00 PM

Hi Guys,

After reading through the latest posts about all the fast drag VW's on the forum, I'm considering running a double page spread for the next issue due out Feb 2005, featuring photos and descriptions of Forum Drag Cars. This will of course depend on the response.

What do I need to run the feature?

1. Twenty (20) forum drag cars - if I receive more, then the first twenty will go in.
2. Two photos of your car - one of the car and one of the engine bay
3. Details - Owner/driver name; state; model/type; engine specs; running gear specs; modifications; special features
4. Deadline 7th January 2005
5. Must email all the info to editor@vwma.net.au

What do you reckon?

Cheers

I love that the magazine is keeping apace of the needs and interests of the readers. Good work guys, you're doing a great job.

VWMA Editor - December 21st, 2004 at 10:05 PM

The rally, hillclimb, circuit and formula vees will all have a regular section in the magazine starting in 2005. Today I met with a VW rally guy who is going to assist me with information and photographs to get the ball rolling for the rally side of things from Issue#6.

Dave, I've seen the photos, and I already have quite a collection. I'm hoping the respective drivers/owners will follow through on my offer and send in their most recent/favourite pics and info to my email address. Dave Becker has already sent his photos and info in tonight, so he's a definite starter.

Just a reminder.

Have some nice cars and info already.

Still bragging room left.

Sad isnt it Craig, all these Drag racing guys,
so busy working on their cars that they
havent time to send in their pics.

I was going to say there are a lot of people who drag race but aren't on this forum. Is it to support the forum too? If so then it's obviously good to get people from here, but there may be some great cars that you'll miss out on if you were just after the cars.

Finding stories on drag cars is no problem. However, when I read all the activity happening on the forum re fast street/drag cars, I thought this would make an interesting inclusion in the mag. The article will explain that these are some of the best cars from the forum pages, not necessarily from the country, although Rod Penrose has already sent me his stuff and we know how fast that thing goes.

This is a rare and probably one-off opportunity for forum guys to see their cars in print.

The response has been slow, but the deadline is still five days away (January 7th), so maybe there's still some more inclusions to come.

Cheers
Craig

Does it have to be a vw powered car?? And does it have to look good??
I'm putting a 5L Holden in mine with Porsche 5 speed at the time of the picture it had a 4.4L Leyland in it.
it's intended use will be for street / strip use, full autometer dash , monza seat etc;

Only space for one more racer, guys and gals.

If you were thinking about it, get it to many quick.
