wacked1 - January 18th, 2005 at 07:11 PM

how did you find something like that, is there a old drag car for sale register
cheers

ROD - January 19th, 2005 at 12:10 PM

Glad everyone likes it.
Robo-will get some history for you shortly, but briefly it is the old Volksrestore / Hellbug car campaigned by Matthew Berry and Jeff Unwin.
Wacked 1 - when you hang around guys like Pete Page and Dave Butler you can find anything plus it was being stored locally.

We hope to eventually put it on the salt in SA, but in the meantime will run it a Willowbank every now and then for a bit of fun.

We made the track with 5hours sleep over the last three days befor the day.Things were getting hard with parts not fiting like they should. The big problem was the clutch not engaging to stop crunching or no free play, and had to adjust lots to get any gears. (not good). The clutch internal measurements inside the bellhousing were way out.( kombi bellhousing, late throw out, turbo supra clutch set for type 1).OTHER problem was that we had to fit windows in the early hours of the morning , open new cal-look rubber kit and found that there was NO front window rubber ( forget windows). So we decided to go any way and see if we could do something with the clutch at the track ( 12 turn latter still grabbing when foot on peddle) So no racing but did a little cruzin around the event .GOOD FUN and a cool event to attend !!!!!!Lots of cool cars. Well more work in the Dak-A-Tak factory shed.

It was a pity not to see it run...but it was good to see it in the flesh.

Let us know when it's going to run
