57kombi - January 26th, 2005 at 12:27 PM

No engine specs???????

Whats the engine that comes with it????
What do you mean sell as a roller, does this price not include the engine.
If not then its not the fastest vw is it???

Cheers
Dave

shiftyvw - January 26th, 2005 at 12:50 PM

Roller Means No engine. Will fit any VW style motor.
If you want the engine as well talk to rod about price.
Engine is a 2.8 autocraft with t72 turbo and Nitrous.

Craig Paton - January 26th, 2005 at 06:30 PM

What's Rod up to now?

57kombi - January 26th, 2005 at 06:39 PM

Not trying to be funny but, how can you advertise Australias fastest vw for sale, when it is just a body,
without the engine it is not the fastest vw is it. More like the slowest.

Cheers
Dave

HotRodMatt - January 27th, 2005 at 01:34 PM

So add 20 odd grand of engine and another Super Sedan racer is in the ranks for less than 40k. Pretty cheap entry into Group 3/4 racing.

I have a whole series of that wheelstand Sean. I'm glad I was on the "wrong" side of the track for that run!

Doug Sweetman - January 27th, 2005 at 01:36 PM

yeah, bet Rod neede a new pair of jocks after that !

sean68 - January 27th, 2005 at 05:35 PM

If i remember rightly wasn't it a double wheelstand and he bent the wheelie bars

have to agree with you h r matt, was looking with a friend at buying joe signorelli's rx7 pro rwd car and he was asking $40k as a roller:duh

pete wood - January 28th, 2005 at 08:51 AM

that's great value for a chassis that you know is good for eights. And he's already done all the hard work chopping and modding it.
How much is an autocraft engine?

Craig Paton - January 28th, 2005 at 03:13 PM

Well I'd run either a supercharged or turbo'd 1916 with aluminium case and good heads,Stan's 2-plug ignition and I'd reckon that would be a good setup to run in Rod's car!
Nice and cheap to run and maintain, fairly quick and I'd paint it Black with heaps of clear!!!!!!

:bounce:bounce

Rods new project is a NEW BEETLE bodied full chassis drag car that will keep his father Allan very busy again building the new chassis , just like the last one . The body has been wind tunnel tested in Germany and the mould has already left on its way here .

Craig Paton - January 29th, 2005 at 05:14 PM

Gotta hand it to Rod, he doesn't do things by halves!!
Can't wait to see his next creation!

shiftyvw - January 30th, 2005 at 09:32 AM

If it was me buying the car i would set it up to run high nines all day long reliably and 400hp would be all that you need. Seriously, car is excellent value. would cost a lot more to build yourself.

dragbug - January 30th, 2005 at 10:05 AM

For Sale.
Australia's most modified Push car.
Fully set up to be rolled around to your hearts content.
Comes with Fred and Barny to power it!

We could take LOWBUG's tip instead, 13Bt's are good for heaps of mumbo. Or maybe, a 20Bt.....:thumb

LOWBUG - February 2nd, 2005 at 01:58 PM

Not so much as a tip, but a shit stir.

Mind you that sort of engine would easily cost between 30 and 50K not to mention the cost in time getting the bastard to run right, look at that guy here in NSW with the metalic grey drag car at the VW nats last year, people in his crew swore that it would do 8's off the trailer, and he couldn"t get it down the strip.

Doug Sweetman - February 2nd, 2005 at 02:21 PM

Thats racing for you.

to be fair, I think it is more than capable of 8s, and they were only certification runs. his real issue was chronic wheelspin everytime the car came on boost. That was on low boost too. he was sent home coz he crossed the centre line. He doesn't even know how much power it's making coz it wheelspins on the dyno.

I spoke to him afterwards. His shocks were too short and every time the car came on boost, the back axles squatted, went into negative camber and the car lost it's tyre footprint, hence the wheelspin. He was waiting on a set of shocks from Ron Lummus Racing in the states.

71superbug - February 2nd, 2005 at 09:00 PM

rotary. YAY. thats wat i actually plan to put in my street beetle. but everyone said it was a bad idea. finally. someone to agree :)
