Yes It was a good day for me, ran a best of 12.89 @104.6 mph, but also split and oil cooler on the 2nd run which required replacing.
Big Thankyou to Mike from Custom Bugs and Busses for going back to the work shop and getting me one, and delivering it to the track. and Henry for helping me change it.
Here are some pics.

Dave, what gear ratios are you running with the new tyres, also weight of car, & how did your jetting go?

debiasi4 - April 10th, 2005 at 08:32 PM

good work dave must be more left in it with that big mph
are you happy with the tyres
adam

Menangler - April 10th, 2005 at 08:41 PM

Dave, car weighed 1850lb with me, Gear box is a 3.88 R&P with stock 1st and 2nd and 1.58 3rd and 1.21 top.
Jetting made a lot of difference in the top end, I will play a bit more with some 42mm vents

Adam, ran 20psi in the tyres, (still have stock axles) 1.7 60ft is better than the old radials, they grip nice. and my 60's were similar to Macca's who was running slicks with 20psi.

Congrats Dave.

I also heard the LMS car did a 10 flat with a mix that was still quite fat.

LOWBUG - April 10th, 2005 at 09:07 PM

Wasn't quite a 10 flat more a 10.03 at 135 mhr but who's splitting hairs, it was just good to see it hold together

Doug Sweetman - April 11th, 2005 at 10:32 AM

10.03 is ten flat in my books.

Great effort everyone !!

Nice to see that a homebuilt motor with 2nd hand parts can still be competitive eh Dave ? (of course, it was put together by a guru though.....)

shiftyvw - April 11th, 2005 at 06:25 PM

I dont know of any vw motors at the drags that arnt home built with second hand parts!

BTW will someone please sponsor macca some paint for his bonnet?
