What-the!!!,the powers of be,of the QLD Nostalgia drags has declined our entry! They sat on our entry for a month until I chased them up,then we were told they had no class for us.They couldn't even pickup the phone to ask about the car or entry from us. The race classes of past meetings kept changing so this meeting was very difficult to enter.( less classes, no dia your own class) Was told that we couldn't race in GAS becouse our car wasn't fuel injected or supercharged .( v8 rules makers) GAS classes in 6's & 7's was races cars that were very cut-up and race under weight breaks .( I-GAS,F-GAS, K-GAS) all had vw's in them. OZ sedan class was a big fat NO!! as well. I exsplained that vw's were made here in Australia and most early one's ( 6's) were 98 per cent Australian made and parts. A 61 CHOP-TOP ,WHEEL STANDING , 200HP SCAT POWERED , HOT ROD COLOURS - SATIN BLACK & RED DRAG BUG must not be nostalgia ENOUGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT!!!! was told WE could put the car on show but no racing .My answer was get lost! Then was told next year there will be a class for left out cars to race in . My answer was that will my sponsors for this meeting be happy or stay with us !!!!! There is lot more to this story but all i can say is NOSTALGIA Powers of be, need a history lesson of vw racing in Australia and USA.nn[ Editedon 19-8-2005 by Dak-A-Tak ]
Have you tried politely sending them some good photos of bugs back in the day racing the cars the do call nostalgia? Just dont send them anything with
the vw's whoopin the v8's as its not going to help your case....
They let a lot of cars run at nostalgia that look nothing like what was around back in the day anyway.
Pete
Have you tried discussions with Tony Thorton(spelling)
Surely he could see the nostalgia value of your Bug!
Hope you can sort this out!

Man that sucks.....
Good to see Matthew Berry's old bug getting back to the track.
Pete,
Not much has changed in 20 years as far as eligable classes for non-conformist cars at the drags go.
Always remember that the more serious you are - the harder you fight!!!
GOOD LUCK (If I can be of any help, let me know)
Hey I know how you feel , trying to build a Golf drag car and the rules seem like they are completely based on Jap cars , especially Hondas!
