Test and Tune day WSID, no VWs, but fun all the same.

My wife was at a conventio today so I had my daughter for the day today. I thought it was about time she saw some real drag cars up close and personal (While the cat's away the mice will play!). :P

We only went out for just under 2 hours but it was great. Only cost me $15 to get in (I'm a Student and Eleanor is under 12, so free) and coz the event is next week is was quiet enough to wander around the place without mobs of people and pit areas roped off. Took heaps of pics. Thought I show you my faves...

This was my favorite car of the day. A hemi powered nostalgia rail. Runs consistent low 10s with a factory bottom end and 11.3:1 compression on a mixture of avgas and premium. Really oldschool with the three sidedraughts. The owner was a nice guy. He said it's definitely not the most powerful car, but it's consistent and goes hard off the line.

This nostalgia dragster also runs a big six. I was surprised to see anyone bothering with a 202, but apparently this thing goes hard. More surprising is the factory forged/counterweighted crank. The head is a whole other story, full custom billet job. I usually hate holden sixes but maybe it's time to change my mind.

My third fav of the day wasn't so lucky. This corolla is powered by a 2J twin cam 6 out of the twin turbo supras. The car is very well presented and looked awesome until it got on the start line. big revs and a woofff followed by smoke and an oil down said it all. :(

That shiny stuff you can see is the inside of the sump. There was a matchboxes sized hole in the block where the rods connected when the rod bolts let go.:puke

The owner was philosophical...He said with over 800hp! and 30 plus passes on the motor, he expected to break stuff at some stage.
