Adam Debiasi Nostalgia Bug

Hi All,
Adam asked me to post these for him, it is Ken Virgin's Original Drag car that has been in storage for years. It is as good as the day he last drove it. If you have any questions ask Debiasi4. I have also attached a letter that andra wrote him back in 1973. Thanks 'Dick' for the letter.

dig the guage on the bonnet...to think ricers think they are doing something different.:o

of course he'd beat 186 powered FJs, a well built billy-cart could...nasty old siamese ports, non-crossflow heads and cast iron everything else. :duh

has it still got the old motor in it? What size was it?

Pete, it did 11's in the 70's... naturally. No the engine was split up between a few people in SA a long time ago. Dont know much about the new motor but i think it will follow the nostalgia route.

It was very nice letter though. It should be framed and placed in the ANDRA museum...If they have one? Make a nice display....the car, some images, maybe some film footage of it in action (if there is any) and this letter.....

Aww shucks...Im getting all 'nostalgic'! :smirk:

Can't wait to see it back on the track Adam...especially if you can match the times!!!

This photo was taken in October-20,1968 at Brooksfield 1/8 mile track on a very hot steamy day .( South Australia ) Ken ran in a old class called E/MS , ET was 9.71 seconds over 1/8 mile track. This picture was out of Aust Hot ROD magazine December 1968. Anyway , Adam great find mate! What are your plans with the car?? ( restore) Least there is a couple old drag cars left .( Madness,Hellbug ) in Australia.

Hi

That is a real piece of VW history, I’m amazed that it looks so fresh. Other people that ran VW’s received similar letters from ANDRA, they even rewrote the rules to say that you must use a 6 or 8 cylinder engine, 4 cylinders were banned.

i am getting together all the bits to build amotor and gearbox so it it will run 11s again, then race it at the nostalga drag envents- if they let vws run
