Rod Richardson running at streetcar Shoot-out
dangerous - November 19th, 2005 at 01:23 PM

Got the word this morning that Rod and Pete are running
today at Willowbank.
The weather is perfect and the track is prepared, so good luck!
Last time they ran in poor weather, it ran 109.8(?) on the limiter
about 100ft before the finish.
This was with muffler, and fanbelt and slicks.

Well what a very, very hot day, weather wise.Rod decide to run this event after the Sydney Sports Compact event was canceled.(back on now).Had 3 qualifying runs ,with the first being the best (12.505-106.61mph ).( 2000R/Air) not good! but half track was pretty good (7.92-85.5mph).Start-line was fantastic for traction with third run car bogging very badly.(5000revs)16lbs air in tyres.Rod went three rounds of racing, with a red light start (399 reaction start, perfect light 400 ) but as the day cooled down car went faster ,with no tune-up changes. His second race was cool up against a nitrous hz holden saden (10.70 dia-in ).This guy was trying to sike us out, with reving his car next to us and having his mechanical mates telling him how good it sounded. So we could hear them.Rod left reel hard ( 1.61 -60ft) then haft track (7.80 sec-86.51 mph) .This guy was sike out byRod's hard launch leaving a red light and breaking out.Rod broke out as well ( 12.43 et)on a 12.50et but his red was first.Rod wins.I think we had about ten dudes coming and asking ( whats in it) . Pic's soon - Dak-A-Tak.

why do people even bother racing HZ sedans? They are so big and heavy it takes $15k worth of engine to get them to do anything even vaguely interesting. Congrats on sorting him out. Gotta love power to weight!:D

There's probably close to that in most 12 second VWs.
