How many VWs are we going to see at willowbank on the 25th of march?
After 14 months off Im pretty keen to race again so me Mac and the brown bug are heading up for some all motor action
Good stuff Morgie!
Myself, Roddy Richardson, and Peter Page with the Chop Top should all be running All Motor.
I wonder if Henry will be ready?
4 bugs in all motor pretty good odds for a all volkswagen final
very cool
This weekend everyone!
All Motor Qualifying is after lunch.
good...will cruise out after soccer hopefully
will bring my video so put on a good show and I'll send ya's a copy.
Well it was a productive outing for all the Volksies.
Morgie and Macca ran 12.50s.
Pete ran 12.3s taking it easy on the startline, and getting back into the groove.
Rod ran a PB of 12.3 with a fresh tranny with taller gears.
I reset the record in All Motor to 11.43@ 114.9, and went too fast in the semis, on my 11.52 dial-in.
I am sure that there will be more info from the others soon.
Most of us went a couple of rounds of racing, and were the top four qualifiers.
Pete got runner-up in All Motor!...great effort!

Also the 13b Manx ran a very smooth 12.1 with a dead stock wrecking yard tranny,
and the 20b kombi also ran (a PB) 12.1 with a reported 500rwhp!...Big wheelstand too apparently!
thanks Dave good to see dubs in the final. Did you get both ET and MPH records?
The manx ended up going 12.002 @ 111mph managed to wheelstand on 4 runs
how much can a stock tranny handle???
Hi Andrew,
Was good to catch up for a chat.
Yes, got both ET and MPH record so I was stoked considering that it was my last two runs of the night that set, and then backed up the
new record.
That is a real good time that you ran with that stock tranny...probably some kind of record I reckon. Normally the synchros would spin
with such power...unless it is a real late model trans with the furnace brazed synchros.
Keep up the good work, and keep having fun!

Good work guys...was a great afternoon, unfortunately had to go late arvo.
I'm pretty sure i got your 11.43 run on tape Dave.
managed to get all the qualifying on tape and now have it burnt to DVD.
I'll get a copy to you soon.
That sounds very good Andrew, would love to see that DVD!
I am hoping that the other guys who raced will let us all know the details of their runs on the weekend.
Off the trailer I ran my best ET of 11.477@114.65. Not a clean run because the rear end started hopping
and didnt stop till 3rd gear...but the numbers were still good with a 1.578 60 foot time.
Second qualifier was alot smoother with an 11.526@114.36, but a slower 1.613 60 foot time. I had leaned
off the fuel mixtures above 6000 rpm & the speed at the end was down, but the half track speed
was better at 94.1mph from the 93.6 in the first run...hmmm interesting.
I sat out the last qualifying session to save the clutch that I was paraniod about(had a shudder, but it proved to be faultless)
First round of racing, I got a Buy,(top qualifyer), so richened the main mixtures to account for the 500 ft relative altitude drop, as the night
cooled off. It proved to be too much of a change and ran a slower 11.573@113.95
on a 11.52 dial-in, which should have been good enough to back up the 11.47 for the record,(1% back-up required), but I had another round to run .
I changed the mixtures back and it ran an excellent 11.431@114.91 which was still a round win because my opponent red-lit...yay! Round three!(1.577 60
foot and 7.197@94.2 at half track)
On my last run, after finally getting a decent burnout, I ran another 11.43...with a 3, @114.77 which was a near perfect back-up for the previous
round's 11.431. This time the 60 foot time was 1.581 and half track was 7.185@93.67.
Heating the tyres properly eliminated any of the bouncing from the rear suspension.
Car weighed right on 1800lbs(818kg) which is 50lbs over the minimum weight of 795kgs.
Great day!!!!! for all vw racers. Thanks Dave for event report ( I was to tierd last night ).I would like to thank Morgan and crew for coming up from
NSW from all QLD vw racers. Morgan 12.41 et ( gruge run ) Rods blue car ran well all day ( fresh tranny, new front wheels and tyres,Jaycee billet oil
mount with bypass valve, oil drain tubes from head to sump ) 1758 pounds on day with best run 12.31et. Myself ,up and down day! ( fresh tranny by
Dangerous Dave -thanks mate ) still bogging start ( 5000rpm) Put 20psi in tyres, then spun tyres on start.Second run ,accidentally toke off in 3gear (
clutch stunk for hours),back clutch off 2turns.Best run 12.42et 108mph with easy start line launch.Had two easy rounds win which I thought wound help
clutch so in the final I changed my dial into 12.10et but my reaction lost the race ,plus car didn't go faster. Well still very happy with the event
turn out and support from friends ( Col for is burgers ) Bring on Sydney in May
